Me and my fiancé have decided after we cut the cake, we are going to have it cut up and then put on the buffet. As the buffet doesn't have a sweet option, we're also going to have a sweetie cart but thought it would be nice to have the cake out as we've heard so many people either moan that they ended up with loads of wedding cake or that they went to a wedding and didn't get any of the cake.

Anyway, both of our mums have reacted really weirdly to us saying it, as if it were the most alien idea they'd ever heard!

We're still going to do it as we think its a good idea, but just wondered if you all thought it was weird as well?

I don't think it's weird! My friends wedding, a lot if us were left disappointed as we didn't get any of their wedding cake, but it's nice you are giving everyone the option if they want some or not. X

I think that's a really good option... At least it's not forced on ppl and it's there if they want it x

I think it's personal preference. We've got sweet stuff on our buffet so were going to keep the cake and then share the cake out with close family the day after. (If everyone's not too hungover) but of we didn't have sweet stuff on our buffet then I would definitely cut it and give it out on the night.

Yes we only have a sweet cart and no sweet option on the buffet so we will do the same

We're doing a sweetie table but we are putting the cake out with the buffet too as we have a lot of adults coming and they dont want to be eating pick and mix really, we have a fair few kiddies too so it's more for them! Our cake (4 tier) is a different flavour for each tier so there's going to be a flavour that everyone likes.
I'm not expecting all the cake to get eaten so if people want to take some home at the end of the night i'm guna let them..better tell them to bring a tupperware box on the invite lol!!

    xx

I didn't think it sounded too odd an idea.

I suppose they're both thinking of when they got married.

I work for Hilton, so do a lot of weddings & most couples choose to have us cut the cake & either put it on the buffet table, or a plate onto each table in the room x

We are also having ours for the evening buffet- one of the reasons we are having 3 different flavoured tiers.

We're having it put on the buffet table after we cut it - having 4 tiers so I hope everyone is hungry.

Lovely idea! We are having loads of cupcakes with a one-tiered cake on top. The cupcakes are for all guests and the cake is for us and immediate family the next day.

I didn't think about only cutting up half of each cake...that's a good idea! And if it all goes more can go out but if not i may actually see about sorting out boxes to give pieces to the guests to take away. What else can we do with left over cake (apart from eat and give it away)? xxx
