    Hi Everyone,

As we all have come across or experiencing ourselves. Looking good for your wedding day is a large theme when planning a wedding.

I am currently doing some research into Bridal Identitiy regarding Fad diets and Weddings for my dissertation and would love to find out more about your wedding plans.

I am a student and am not advertising or promoting any businesses or products. Just simply looking for feedback in an honest interest

Please also feel free to use this thread as a platform to share your motivations behind dieting for your wedding. Your concerns, experiences, expectations or general opinion. All of this would be very helpful!

    Thank you again!
    Shante'

P.s. If anyone taking part would like access to the final paper after the research is done then please feel free to pm me with your email address.

I am so sorry... I didn't consider it would be a problem, I was just trying to find ways to speak to brides. Thank you for pointing this out @InDreamland, I do want to host a discussion here on this topic though... It's not easy for students to find brides to talk to.
I apologise again if this bothered anyone.

For anyone interested in a discussion-

What is your motivation for dieting for your wedding? What part of the wedding are you hoping a change in weight will have the most effect on?

Shante'T - I can't remember for life of me how to unrestrict your page - sorry, I'm sure someone else will know :-(

On the subject of dieting I have been losing weight for the last year in preparation - 2 stone down and 1/2 to go, through healthy diet and exercise.

My main motivation was the photographs - at the weight I was before I desperately avoided the camera and cried a few times at pics people put up on the book of face - I didn't want to do that with the wedding photos.

Also when I thought about how I wanted to look on my wedding day, the dress, hair etc etc I realised I always pictured myself them size I used to be, so figured I'd better do something about it x

    @Stephanie M71 -
That's really interesting that you say that because from the research I have done so far, the pictures are one of the main reasons why brides want to diet... I actually read a really interesting article on it where a married woman remarked on how it was kind of a dissapointing experience investing so much into looking good for her pictures (can't remember where I saw it though)

Congratulations on your progress though! That's definitely an amazing achievement! So what kind of dieting have you done?

I lost three stone a few years ago with my G.P. when I got spine problems. It's gone up a bit since I stopped paying attention, but I'm following the NHS 12 week plan now. I only need to lose about five or six kilos,

For me I am not planning to diet.

My main reason for this is that H2b loves me for who I am including my figure and my personal opinion is that its an added stress for what essentially is just a day. Yes, its a very important and special day so please do not think I am disregarding the importance.

Also, I generally eat sensibly anyway And this is due to my degree background and job, and I am not a fan of being too slim, have been there and can honestly say I feel better now as a size 12-16 (shop dependant) than when I was an 8-10.

I also want to feel like me. I have never really felt overly self conscious about my weight/body either. Yes I have parts I dont particularly like but, I dont lose sleep over it as its just things that make me who I am.

I'm the same as MrsT, i have a little baby belly since my daughter 7 months ago. It's not massive and i'm still a size 10 (up from my size 8 before pregnancy), but even if i was to go up in weight, i know my OH loves me for me. He loves my personality and my humour, he doesn't care if i want to stuff my face with cupcakes and crisps.
I actually want to put on weight for a bit extra curviness in my dress! Only dogs like bones.
Too much pressure is put on women to loose weight. From new celebrity moms walking out a size smaller than before they was pregnant. It's a joke.
You should only be encouraged to lose weight, if you are an unhealthy weight that is affecting your health i.e. pressure on your heart, joints, ect otherwise you should be happy as you, it's why your OH loves you, it's who you are.

Oh wow thanks for all your feedback guys! I especially love the stories about feeling that you want to be who you are and your husbands to be appreciate that!
Definitely an interesting note on feeling loved but not loving yourself @Lana2BMrsHands.

Does anyone find that rather than loosing weight, their aim is to raise self esteem?

I really would love some feedback on what people thought of as dieting in particular. What do you think dieting is? What counts as a fad diet? and how and why you feel about the term!

I know I am technically not supposed to advertise anything but if anyone is interested in taking part in my survery then please let me know!

Oooh another question for those of you who want to lose weight for the wedding (or have)... what was the difference in your ideal weight and starting weight?!

EDIT . I SEE THAT ALTHOUGH YOU REALISE YOU SHOULD BE ADVERTISING ANYTHING YOU STILL DO SO . MODS

I don't like the idea of "dieting" more changing your diet to be more healthy, not eating so much choc and processed food, and more fresh and veg. Although my mum has been sucessful in the fasting or 5:2 diet having lost 1 stone in a month! You should nott do things like reduce calories to lose weight ssy in 6 weeks quickly then go back to normal as it will just pile back on!
