Okay, so I have my dress but it needs alterations and being me I want a lot of adaptions. I have contacted a seamstress who seems really good and we have discussed a lot of things but when I asked when she can book me in for she said the 28th June! I am getting married on the 2nd August so I think that's way too late - what if she didn't turn up. I cannot get married in the dress as it is. For one it is way too long.

Am I being unreasonable and when would you want it done by ?

I would contact her again and say your date has changed so you need it done earlier

The bridal shop where I bought my dress said they normally do alterations six weeks before. If it worries you maybe you could adk if she can start earlier.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Maybe she is leaving it to avoid you having to go back closer to the day if your weight fluctuates. If she had to take the dress in then any detailing would have to be moved so that it sits in the right place. I would be worried too though as I like guarantees and I'm finding with organising a wedding there aren't many of those - you have to trust people with such important bits of your wedding and hope they do it right!

If you talk to her maybe she would do the alterations sooner, to at least put your mind at rest that it is a dress you would like to wear on your day and hope that you wont need it taken in

I would phone her again hun and tell her you worries. It may be that she will only take your booking and will work solidly on only your dress for the 6 weeks?
    xx

If you have a lot of work that needs to be done you could pre-book your second and third fittings?

It's the same with my alterations woman, I've been told 5-6 weeks before, that's the norm as weight doesn't fluctuate as much in those last few weeks x

I thought it was normal for alterations to be done 5/6 weeks before wedding date
Maybe get the changes done now so you can say if you definitely like them then the sizing alterations done that date she's provided x
