We still have ages until our wedding but I cant help but panic slightly over the venue decorating & packing away.
Who is getting your venue ready for the day & cleaning up after?
Were not getting married until 4pm so I was planning on setting up the venue myself, with the help of my bridesmaids/MOH, but the more I think about it the more I think it isn't practical & will end up stressed out on the day

I think you're right about it being stressful, especially if you're setting up the morning of. Do you have someone that you could trust with setting up your venue? Any chance that your venue could help you with set up?

I will be setting up our venue late the night before and possibly in the early morning (getting married at 3.30pm elsewhere). I have a detailed plan of how the tables look, of everything which is meant to go on each table, how the tables will be positioned, how the band stand will be positioned. I know how people are going to be guided through to the buffet and hog roast etc. I think a lot of forward planning. A lot of organisation, post-it notes/paper guide to how you want it, and a group of people who are willing to do your every word will get you through it all quickly, efficiently and without undue stress. I know my BMs are going to do as I tell them, follow the table plan, the lads will be filling the balloons before 12, and we will be getting ready with a glass of champers well before then. Be organised. Know what you want and where, and dont let mothers or Mother in laws way-lay you or change your plan. We will have everything set up the night before and last minute things in the morning, like the battery power LED lights etc.

It was never planned, but our venue done it along with the woman who done our centre pieces. We had our table runners, crystals and bubbles that the venue sorted out, then the lady who done our centre pieces finished it off.

Our venue have made it clear that they won't do it, but they have said that I can do most of it myself the evening before, then I think I will have to enlist someone responsible the job of going in to do finishing touches an hour or so before the ceremony.

My venue and florist are doing most of it, I have then given the job of checking and placing name cards to two of my bms the morning of the wedding. We are having the name cards tied onto wine glasses so we have to do this! They know how retentive I am so will make sure its up to scratch for me!

I think they only done ours as it was in the same room as the ceremony so they had to work fast to turn it around.

I think I'm going to have to start writing questions down to ask the venue & one will definately be about help with setting up & even more so cleaning up.
Hopefully they only do one wedding per weekend so we can spend Friday setting up & friends/family would do the packing up/cleaning on the Sunday, wishful thinking!!

We're really lucky as our venue have told us that we can get access to our venue any time from the Tuesday to decorate the room and that they are more than happy to help us

Our venue will set things up for us. As long as they have a picture or description of what we would like things to look like they are happy to do it. They do all the setting up for each wedding they do.

We will be making things as easy as poss for them by providing things like a table plan of where people are sitting and what table, putting each tables place names etc in a bag per table. I think my Mum will probably check its done correctly though as that's what my Mum is like lol!

I have the same dilemma KeiraH51 - my ceremony isn't until 4pm and the reception is in the same place. I know that there is a wedding there the day before and day after so will have to be set up on the day. Trying to save money by decorating the venue ourselves but then that begs the question of who is going to do it!
I think we are going to head over around 10 with everything pre-prepared in the car (flowers in their jars in a big box - add the water when we get there!) and set up for a couple of hours then relax and get ready from 12 - pretty sure i'm being optimistic but with me, my bridesmaids and my side of the family it will get done!

I done my venue on the friday at 12 but didn't finish until 6:30 it took us ages (me and my sister in law) it took us over 2 hours to decorate 8 tables.

Our venue then done all the clearing away. If I was you I would see how early you can get into the venue the day before and do it as early as possible as we was only meant to stay until 5:30 because it was the Zoo but they let us stay.

I wouldnt want to do the decorating on the morning of the wedding as you will stress yourself out.

If you want to have a nose I have put a link onto my wall of some pics that our photographer has taken

I will be setting the venue up myself, on the morning, i find things like that rather relaxng tbh, i knw its weird, but i do. I will have everything in boxes for each table. i have silk flowers and water pearls in jars for centre pieces, so the lids will be on the jars with the flowers laying carefully in the box, i will then have favours for that table in the same box along with place cards etc. each table will have its own box. the boxes will also contain wine/non-alcoholic wine for that table.

I'm actually really looking forward to setting up my tables, just watching it come together, knowing that all my hard work has come to an end & i get to get married & relax...I cant wait!

Glad iv seen this as i have been thinking the same thing. i also get married at 4pm. i know the venue decorate for parties and that but don't know about weddings when your setting it up yourself. the venue is doing the table cloths and runners etc all's i'm doing is little touches iv made myself and the centrepieces which i have glass vases with submersible lights in and water beads so im hoping i can take them all down the day before and then they will set them up for me if i tell them how i want everything. think a meeting with them is needed to discuss everything. 6 months to go and not much planning been done as we've had the mind set of 'its ages away yet' but we hit the 6 month mark yesterday so big kick up the bum and lots been started now. xx

All I had on my table was

    Table name,
    Place Names,
    6 Candles
    orange butterflies
    Favour Boxes
    Orange gems

It took us over 2 hours just to do 8 tables

Make sure you give yourself enough time to finish it all and get ready.
