Just in the process of making up our budget for the venue before we pay a deposit, and was wondering for the evening reception do we have to provide seating for everyone? We are thinking along the lines of how many Chair Covers & Sashes we need. As am sure you've all come across how expensive they are, we don't want to waste money providing seating for everybody if they are not going to be used due to people mingling/dancing.
Thanks in advance

At my venue, they took some of the tables away and left a few around the edges, as you say many will be mingling and dancing.

We are having extra chairs being out out but I'm not covering them we are just leaving them as it's only the evening guests that need the extra seating xx
Cant wait until I become Mrs K

I was wondering the same thing, esp as we have double the evening guests. In the end we decided to cover all the chairs (they are pretty hideous!!) - I wasn't going to put a sash on the extras, but the decorating lady offered the sashes for free bless her :-)
There won't be seating for everyone, but I'm hoping this will encourage dancing lol

i wont be getting any extra chair covers we are having 75 for the day and i assume that the venue will put more out for the evening anyway. some people will be in the bar section of the room anyway which has plenty of extra seating and sofas. i dont think anyone will notice if you have some uncovered chairs for the evening x

were getting seating for most people, think there will be room for 150 and we are inviting around 170, will people coming and going, dancing and chatting i think this will be fine,
we are covering all the chairs the same as our evening reception is 2 weeks after our ceremony in greece!! so it has to look its best!!

we covered 50 chairs for the wedding breakfast and the staff just moved the chairs to the other tables and around the room and it was more than enough

Lana, you probably won't do much sitting. Everyone will want to talk to you, buy you drinks, and get pictures with you.

Lana I sat down once in the evening and was in the corridor to the courtyard lol you don't really need a seat in the evening

Were not having chair covers when we went to look at the venue the chairs were lovely, it just seemed another unneeded expense to me. I'm sure evening guest wouldn't expect chair covers.
