Well, we're down to the nitty gritty now, and its all feeling rather exciting and real!

I suddenly thought this evening, how many chair covers should we be booking?

If we go with the exact number of guests, then for the ceremony its likely that the last few couples who arrive won't get to sit next to each other. Also, wouldn't my lovely one and I need two chairs? One to sit on with the other guests during the readings, and one at the register signing table?

If we go with extra, then I think I'll feel rather annoyed at having to pay for more chair covers than we have guests!

And I really can't believe that I'm at the point of thinking about something as small as this! Myself of a year ago would be telling me now to get a grip!

personally, we didn't bother at the ceremony. I just couldn't justify spending £160+ for chair covers that would only be used for half an hour or so. Also, consider any children with high chairs ( if you're having children that is). If this is the case, then you wont need a chair cover. More cash saved! ;_)

i agree with clive, it seems silly spending all that money on something thats not actually of any use. Save your money and spend it on something you need. Xxxx

We're in a church, but if we did, I'd check on the types of chair being used... if they are vile, go with the covers and the contingency... it'll only be a few extra quid...

But also if the chairs are ok but need a bit of jazzing up, try adding coloured ribbons or organza that you can buy cheaply yourself on the bay and get a friend/family member to help or to actually set it up for you!

I was wondering about this too, we are having 50 guests for the ceremony and 100 for reception (all in one venue) the ceremony is downstairs and the wedding breakfast and evening reception is upstairs. I wonder if they'll actually put out 100 chairs for the evening? I know when I go to weddings for evening only it's annoying if you can't find anywhere to sit down. Something I'll have to ask the venue I suppose?

I bought my covers so i could then sell them on... I went with the number of people for ceremony/breakfast. We had 40 guests and i allowed 2 extra covers for registrar, but think they stood throughout anyway! The hotel then moved the chairs to the breakfast for us. We had extra evening guests but no extra chairs put out... Hope this help...!

Usually, they recommend you provide seats for about 75 to 80 percent of guests at an evening reception....obviously you want one for everyone for the ceromony!

I wouldn't pay for extra - at most weddings I've been to, everyone mingles outside for a bit and then goes in to sit together, so it does tend to work out xx

We have been advised to buy enough for the number of people we have attending during the day and to only get 1 set (some places expect you to buy 2 sets!!) as our venue will then move the chairs from ceremony to Wedding breakfast room. Take into consideration that in the evening not all guests will be sitting down. Men gathered at the bar, women on the dancefloor (apologies for the sterotyping there). So some chairs will generally be taken away as some tables will be taken away too. Also, depending on the venue, they may have other chairs in use, for example, our venue has a sofa by the fire place in the hall/reception and arm chairs in the room known as the library.

The company we are booking our chair covers through take a 50% deposit and then a couple of weeks before the date, we clarify set numbers in case we do not need as many as expected depending on our RSVP's and then pay the rest of the balance.

we are just having enough chair covers for the wedding breakfast people then when they move them into the other room for the evening reception they are just gona mix and match them i dont see the point of decorating extra chairs for the evening guests when they wont really be appreciated because the room will be darker and people will be getting drunk. xx

I think we'll be fine for the extra evening guests as the venue have some black chair covers which they're happy to put on some extra chairs (no extra cost).

I was more worried that during the ceremony if we had the exact number of chairs, couples may not get to sit together. eg if the only two chairs left weren't together when the last couple came to sit down.

NB the ceremony and reception are at the same venue, in the same room so we'll be re-using the chair covers for the rest of the day.

We have got 80 chair covers and not worried about the evening guest, the venue will bring out more chairs if needed but im sure loads of people will be standing.

we're having 74 guests during the day, so we have booked 76 chair covers (an extra 2 for the 2 chairs for signing the register) The evening guests can do without. Everyone knows everyone in mine and H2B's family so they wont mind being separated if the last 2 chairs are 4 rows apart xx
