Anyone else doing a photo wall?

I really want one only problem is my parents took loads of photos of me and together as a family so on my side it would be perfect.

However H2B's parenta didn't bother soo much with him (all his other brothers and his sister have loads) H2B only has one or two, one of which is totally blurry and the other he is alseep with his head in the dog cone (with the dog obvs).

So what are we too do? I've already changed this idea once as it was orginally going to be of old family wedding photos but again thats a bad idea due to his family (parents are no longer together his mother is refussing to come to our engagement party as his dad will be there -so you can see what a photo of them togther would do).

    HELP!

See I know what you mean.... I wanted loads of old pictures of us but I have loads of me but only 3 of h2b so look odd. Therefore we have decided to do a photo section off our relationship together, being together 9 years we have plenty of pictures together so easier option.... Could you do something similar instead? We don't have too many photos together, we spend basically 24/7 togther so don't really see the need to get photos (probably should though)

Button, I like Milzz' idea - saw this at a friends wedding - why dont you also perhaps include photos of things that you enjoy? So like a photo of a beach if you like holidays, of snow if you like Christmas or the place you met or you got engaged. Doesnt have to be a pic of just you two - you could put like captions below like "where we first met" xx

They wouldn't be such nice photos. One would be of a main street another would be a friends house, we have never been on holiday... but I shall have a think about what we could use.

Any chance any of his aunts, uncles, grandmother, grandfather or friends have really old pictures of him? Where did he go to school? I went to several schools and I do a bit of writing from time to time and I was asked by one of my former teachers to write an article for my school's fiftieth anniversary magazine.

They wanted a picture of me in my school uniform and when I went to see them I brought a selection of photos of myself in my uniform with friends and on my own at home etc. But when I got there I was amazed at how many photos they had dug out of me, some of me in school plays and some were of me and a few others either in posed shots or just larking around in the classroom.

His parents are not the be all and end all, you will get pictures of him from the strangest of places if you really get your thinking cap on and do some homework :-) was he involved in sports as a kid? Did he belong to any kind of after school club or youth group? Is there anything at all that was involved in that may have taken and kept photos of him?

I really want one of these, but I've usually seen them done by the parents. Will it look weird if we make one of these ourselves? X

No not at all. It will be seen as a bit of nostalgia and fun no matter who its them together. A couple I know did this on their wedding video for the "opening credits" lol and it was so cool :-)

I'm planning on doing this too! have asked H2B family to dig out the old pics. We thought we'd do it as a "You, Me and Us" thing, so pics of him on the one side growing up (and with his kids), then pics of me on the other side with my son, and then pics of us both together in the middle.. Thats the plan anyway! xx

I saw an episode of four weddings once where one bride put a different picture of them both together as part of a centrepiece for each guest table and I thought it was really sweet.

Some pictures will turn up somewhere, from a cousins birthday party or some Christmas gathering or something.

If not there's plenty of time to get creative. One of my favourite movies is Green card and in that movie Andy McDowell and Gerard Depardieu have to fake their relationship so they have this idea where they dress up in different outfits, set up different scenarios around her apartment and outside and photograph themselves doing stuff together and separately. For example he dresses up as a DIYer and she photos him fixing something then next thing he puts on a Hawaiian shirt and they make it look like he's at the beach. I know its a bit bizarre lol but something like that could be a bit of fun and could really work and no one needs to know they had recently been faked :-)

Get in touch with some of schoolmates and ask them if they have any photos with him in them, some of them might have the class posed photos, anything is worth a try and when photos do start turning up they might be a nice keepsake :-)

Thats one thing he has always said, when he has kids he will treat them soo much better than he was (he wasn't abused or anything like that), for example he has bearly any photos but his sister and 3 brothers have loads. He got new clothes every 3months where his sister got new clothes every week etc ect.

I got nothing but hand me downs, and a lot of them came from cousins who were 10 years plus older than I was so I know the feeling. I did get stuff bought for me now and again but not a lot, usually only if it was Christmas or my birthday or we had been invited to go somewhere, but having said that there was always a camera about and my mum has stacks upon stacks of albums and loads of pictures of all of us so I do understand the clothes thing I really do. But there is no excuse for there not to be loads of photos of him :-( but like I was saying earlier ask around as someone somewhere will have pictures of him, and you never know you might even find baby pics as an aunt or uncle may have gone to see him after he was born.

hiya, i have exactly the same issue, my partner hasnt got many photos from his childhood and i have lots from growing up so i think i am going to do a mixture of :
    my childhood
    his childhood
    my family
    his family
    our friends
our time together as a couple

and then most people who are there on the day will be included-win win :-) xxx

I was the third child so think the novelty ran out when it got to me. My mum has done about 6 albums for my sister, about 4 or 5 for my brother and then about 1 for me. I have been thinking about doing this. But I no there are not many pictures of me, I spoke to my aunt about it and she has some and my mums have some so if you hunt around you may find some x x

Yeah that's a really good idea :-) I really don't get why some parents don't bother with kid 3 or 4, novelty wearing off is no excuse. I have 3 brothers and if we counted up all the pics were all in the numbers would be around the same as my mum in particular always had a camera around. I even remember her taking a picture of us 4 with a camera sales guy lol. Ah well I guess some parents just don't bother which is a real shame because having loads of pictures to look back over is great :-)

I'm pregnant with our first child and I hope to get an album together and include photos of me and fi as a baby in the album too :-) I think it would be a nice keepsake for our child :-) oh and ill be like my mum and make sure I always have a camera in my bag for all our kids :-)

Well the novelty couldn't have worn off with my H2B as he is child number 4 and his sister child number 5 got tons of photos and got spoilt like crazy.

I can remember an awakward moment at his mam's house when 2 of his brothers where there and they confroned their mam about their sister getting spoilt and her just skipping past H2B, she just changed the subject well thats one way too make him feel wanted. They pushed it and she basically said that all the boys where a steppig stone to get to their sister I thought lovely! I felt soo bad for them and just wanted to take them all to my mam's as my mam treats everyone like roylatly.

If the sister is the youngest all that adds up. Some parents treat eldest and youngest like golden children and the ones in the middle get looked over ah well its their problem and their loss I say. My mum is a bit like that as I have one older brother and two younger and the eldest was never given any responsibility as I was the one who was told off when the boys did something like a prime example I was at work one night and came back at about 4 in the morning to find the house messed up as my two younger brothers had decided to bring half of the disco back for a party. Next day the only one who got punished was me. The two youngest never do anything wrong and got away with murder especially one of the boys in particular, and funnily enough me and him very rarely see eye to eye.
Sadly that's the way a lot of families are and mothers in particular fail to realise that in doing stuff like that they are the reason why we don't grow up as close as we should do. Sad fact but true.
