Hi all i am currently having a debate as to whether we have disposable camera's on the table for people to take pictures?
my MIL2B really wants them but to be honest it is adding an extra cost to our day! plus then the cost of delevoping them when they could be rubbish photo's!
I have thought about getting CD's and putting a note on it for people to take pictures on there camera and add it to the CD and Post/Hand back to us... i can do these for free via work!
What is everyone else doing or what do you think?

We had disposable cameras on our big day (29th Sept) and we havent yet had them developed due to the cost. I think we will wait til after the new year when xmas is out of the way and get them done (£25 for 5 cameras)
Sounds like a good idea what youre suggesting but it might be easier just to create a wedding page on book of face and ask people to post them on there?
I really did marry my Mr Wright and we had a nice day for a

You don't have to pay for developing them :) however so many people have cameras nowadays I'm sure you'll get plenty of pics without them. I went to a wedding in the summer and someone had them and the kids were clicking away at pointless stuff like the floor etc so I'm fairly anti these cameras

I agree with jackie. My mum gave everyone disposable cameras at my brothers wedding and out of the ones that didnt actually get lost there was nothing but lovely pictures of the floor, the backs of people's heads and so on. All in all there were only about 10 or 11 half decent pictures out of lord knows how many cameras. Funnily enough the worst offender for wasting them was another brother of mine who was in his 20s at the time and thought that taking stupid pictures was a great idea lol.

I think nowadays everyone has digital cameras and will get some good pictures for you anyway.... you could put a note on the tables saying please email you copies instead. The quality on digital cameras is soooo poor and cost you fortune to develop so personally i dont think its worth it.

My sister in law had disposable cameras...they all came out dark and cost her alot to develop them. She told me not to bother....she also got some really nice piccies of random mens bums n girl cleavages too. haha.
she said aswell that people uploaded alot to the social network site which were alot better!!
CommentAuthorlizzylou
I wouldn't bother with disposable cameras, my friend bought some for her wedding last year of a website - the stuff you throw at weddings - and they were dreadful!! Really horrendous! Half of them didn't work - you couldn't push the button down to even take photos on some! Most of them went in the bin as people came and said on the day they couldn't get them to work - the ones she got developed were as others have said - backs of heads, the same photo 5 times where people thought they hadn't worked and they had - random flashes of bums and boobs. In in all it was a waste of money.
This year for my wedding I thought I might create a dropbox account with our names and make the password something easy - then put the details on the the info sheets that go in with the invitations and ask our guests to upload they photos. That way I can print them off myself.

I totally agree with Millz, most people nowadays have digital cameras and will bring them!! I was considering it, but changed my mind... Didn't need the extra expense. They are mostly poor quality anyway. Xxx

I was tempted to do this but people abuse it and take pics of all sorts of rubbish x

This was what I wanted. I did find somewhere that done developing as part of the cost of the camera, but when it came to it do you think I could find it? Nope, so we never had them.

I went to a wedding that had cameras. At the end of the evening one of the ushers went round looking at them and there were so many unused photos, so he took about 40 photos of himself to use them up as a laugh. The quality of the result is poor. They were great in the days before digital, but just simply not required these days. Hint to your friends and family about bringing cameras and once the wedding is over badger them for pictures. You will have plenty. Save the money for something you'll enjoy more.
CommentAuthorpink*wink
my friend did the cameras, and 6 years later they were still sitting in a bag in a cupboard!!!!xx

Thanks Girls you have really helpped make up my mind! No Disposable Camera's and after reading this to H2B he agreed! i can mark that off the list and use the money else where! xx
CommentAuthorShazk
Lime otehrs have said i personally wouldnt do disposible cameras 1 for the cost and 2 my friend had them and half of them u couldnt see as people didnt put the flash on etc so u have the cost of buying them then cost of develpoing them and may not get the photos u want.
Like been said lots of people will take their own phots & I lvoe teh CD idea that what we are talking about doing or maybe even putting a bit in teh invited/thank u card saying that if they wouldnt mind supplying us with some of thephotos they took etc xx
Away with the flutterbys xxx

We went to a wedding last year where there was a camera on each time. On the rather unfortunate label it said "take a photo of your favourite part" so the men did!! You don't need telling what the pictures were of. I'll have to ask if any got developed.

We had some at our wedding ... the picutures are a complete waste of time. They are either black or the floor or people's bums (yes really) or overlapped or ... you get the "picture" Out of 10 cameras we have about 15 useable photographs which aren't very good anyway. When we renew our vows I won't have them again ... but I will have the little bubble bottles on the tables as everyone seemd to love them.

We have bought these for our wedding and now I'm regretting it as what's been said on here. Going to still use them tho I think or will have been a waste of money buying them x x
CommentAuthorDawnK21
Sell them on eBay and make some money back?
CommentAuthorClareS
We've got some from Max Sp with developing included. Originally was only going to buy ones for the kids with a list of piccies to take but we ended up getting ten. With the discounts I think we got 3 free in the end.
CommentAuthorKirstyJ22
Well I regret buying them for our wedding now! Didn't realise how much it costs to get them developed. I might sell them on now I've read this x x
CommentAuthorMrs-Mouse-2-be
My mum went mental buying them for my brothers wedding, she gave them out to loads of people and honestly it cost over 100 quid to develop them, like I said before on here I think we got 11 decent pictures. Not worth the money, time or effort.
Somehow I don't think lists of pictures would work either as most people won't put the flash on, you will still get pictures of the ceiling, floor, backs of people's heads, bums and boobs and this may not even be deliberate on the "photographer's" part as we are all so used with automatic cameras and cameras that tell us that the light isn't good or that someone has their eyes closed. Cameras these days do the work for us. The only time I ever use a disposable camera is when I'm out somewhere and I don't want to take my good camera with me in case I lose it, and I think most disposable camera users are the same, but most people would use their own camera.
CommentAuthorRuthW61
AmyP7... sell them on ebay make the money back I can honestly say i will not be using them.... as from peoples comments they are all against them and for me that money could be used else where!
CommentAuthorAmyP7
Yeah I think thats what I am going to do now. Will put them on and see if they sell. I might develop a website instead and ask people to upload their pics onto their instead as most people have cameras now x x
CommentAuthorMrsK2b
I was thinking about doing this but its an added cost and were having two photographers at the wedding and a lot of my friends and family have really good cameras so im going to ask them for the pictures.
Cant wait until I become Mrs K
CommentAuthorkrazykitty
we were thinking of having these but then i agree lots of people take random pictures!! they ok for the first part of the day (the wedding breakfast) but the rest of the evening isnt a good idea haha. i think we will put a message on the tables about emailing us the pictures (or sending us the copy if they dont do the internet) I just hope that people will send them! x

We are not bothering with disposable cameras, it seems a bit of a waste of money and also from some of the weddings I've been to they have looked a bit cheap.
What we are doing instead is asking our guests to email us any photos that they have taken. So far everyone we have spoken to has thought this was a brilliant idea as we get to capture our wedding from everyone's view. X
CommentAuthorKatrina*
I like the idea of the CD or having a page for everyone to upload to.
CommentAuthorCoralLeigh2016
There's an app for android - not sure if compatible with apple IOS - called WedPic$, which you create you're own wedding, link with fb and email link to all guests and when they take their own photos of the day they can upload into your own wedding profile which is a great way to get other pictures and share on fb :) we have this - saves messing around with disposables and its FREE xxx
CommentAuthorJennK
We are using the app, past experience at other peoples weddings is the pictures are usually fuzzy and out of focus from the disposables

CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
Yeah I think I will do, thanks :) while we are on the subject of photos, are any of you asking guests not to upload to FB until the day after? Or do you think people just won't do this? I want to keep everything secret for the evening guests so I don't want day guests to upload them for them to be seen before arriving x

CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
That's what I was thinking of doing but I wasn't sure if I should put it on the invites plus I didn't want to sound rude and every way I thought of writing it did lol! Maybe I'll have a rethink of how I could include it on the invites :) x

Think we're just going to put a little poem (found a few on G00gle) at the bottom then a link to the app we have :) we're not going to go crazy if people upload to FB themselves but we're hoping guests will respect our wish :) my best friend did it with hers a few years back and guests didn't seem to mind :) xxx
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
I'll have a little search for one then :) hoping people are just so caught up in the day that they won't think about being on fb but these days people are glued to it haha! Yeah I don't mind too much I just would like to keep it as much of a surprise as I can :) x

The majority of our day guests aren't going to be bothered about being on FB because of their ages lol. Those who are younger will be heavily involved with the day anyway i.e. OH's brother as best man and my girls as bridesmaids, so doubt they will be logging onto FB! I like the idea of people uploading the day after using a specific hashtag.. also like the W3dp1cs idea, will have to check it out x

God I sound like a marketer for that app now lol xx
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
Yeah most of our day guests are older, the only ones I think may upload are one of OH's sisters (although one is BM) and MIL as she is never off FB! Hoping they will realise it's not a time to log on though lol! x

I am using a wedding app. There are looooads of good ones, no need for disposable cameras. I like that "play" called "I Spy", and I'm planning to leave in the tables, with the menu. You can also ask them on the wedding programs to do not upload any photos until the day after.
