I've got it! It was the first thing we did after booking the venue and church. I would be so worried I didn't have it- so many things could go wrong!

    We went with E&L.

Once I've found a venue I'm definitely going to take out insurance - you never know who might let you down at the last minute, and you really can't plan for some things, like weather!

We've not got any yet, keep forgetting about it, thanks for the reminder. As far as i can tell its a one off premium you pay is that right? The prices vary significantly don't they, is it a case of if you go for the cheapest you suffer later if you make a claim? xxx

Has anyone tried WeddingPlan Wedding Insurance? We've taken our insurance with them and their cover seems to be very good for the price (they have different levels of cover starting at £19.99 as well).

I've just noticed they advertise here on UKBride as well (on the adverts on the left hand side of the page).

As soon as we knew where the venue was going to be I got insurance. £19.50 and covers for if your venue or suppliers go bust, which in this financial climate was the main thing I wanted covered. I'd rather 'lose' 20 quid than lose hundreds.

In this day and age you NEED insurance. There is a compare wedding insurance site out there what will show you what each company gives you for your money. The amount you pay varies to how much your wedding is. I think ours was about £30 for up to 10k. Its just a one off payment but it will protect you against companies going bust (which is happening all the time) and also if you had an accident or something and couldn't make it on the day they would arrange you to have it all again on another day. The insurance also can cover you for public liabilty which protects your guests if anything should happen to them.

We have to take out wedding insurance that covers for the military. With Barry being in the navy we need to cover for the chance of him missing the wedding if he gets deployed somewhere as well as for the usual wedding issues. Its unlikely he will get deployed at the time of the wedding as the Navy are quite good with this but it would just be our luck. Does anyone know of a good insurer to go with that covers all our needs xx

I'm definitely planning to get insurance as I reckon there is a real risk that guests etc might not make it because of weather issues due to the time of year I want to get married. I looked into it though and most insurers don't let you take it out more than a year before the wedding so we will have to wait.

we went with ecclesiastical ( think thats how you spell it!) Its a one off payment and it is tailored to your wedding and how much you are spending, i think ours cost about £50 but if any suppliers let us down etc we can claim and its peace of mind that all the money we are spending is protected.
