    Hey Ladies,

Last monday i was taken by ambulance to hospital where i ended up being admitted and staying until wednesday evening. To cut a long story short i have suffered with pain in my hips on and off for 2 years and monday the pain got to much i collapsed and couldnt weight bear on them at all. After a few x rays it turns out that my left hip is not ok at all, its possible the ball that sits in the socket of the hip is the wrong shape. They discharged me weds evening and sent me home on ora morp, co-dydramol and diclofenac because i would have to wait until today to see the doc on the ward or can see him tomorrow with an outpatients appointment. So tomorrow i find out what is happening next. To say im stressed is an understatement, the wedding isnt far away at all, we have to move by the end of april :(

    Too much at once. :(

Oh no, sounds like you are going through the wars right now, and no wonder you are feeling stressed when you have a house move, your wedding and not knowing what is going to happen yet as regards your hip. But if you have the support of family and friends and of course your h2b, then everything is possible. Just do things step by step and keep a positive attitude and you will get everything done. Obviously I can't say if you will be ok for walking down the aisle on your wedding day but you will get down it somehow and that is the main thing! I hope it all goes ok at the hospital for you, let us all know, and at least you know we are all here to help you with the wedding side of things, you can still get everything done! :) xxx

Hey honey, did you get wedding insurance??

I truely hope everything works out ok for you. But it sounds like this is gonna take some time to work through the NHS. I am so glad they have x-rayed you and you now have a reason for the pain, sometimes that makes it easier to deal with. You have had such a rough year and now at least you have a real diagnosis. Even if they can fix your hip I doubt you can fit in surgery and recovery before the wedding. And I know I don't want to be dosed up on pain relief for my wedding.

Worst case scenario you may have to postpone, or just you and h2b have a very simple ceremony and then when you are better have a blessing and the reception.

Please accept my biggest hug I really am sending you all the best internet hugs I possibly can.xxxx

i know my gran (she is having her hip replaced) was on the waiting list for about 4 weeks, it is a 4-10 day hospital stay and was told it would take at least 4-6 weeks of being helped around the house (basically taking things easy) before she could resume her normal activities. Unfortunately when she went to have her blood taken 3 days before her appointment her thyroid levels were high and so she is still waiting (since well before christmas) to get hers.
I am not saying this is what you will need etc, but i am just pointing out a typical time frame for a similar problem. I think as others have said you may need to postpone unless you can get help and let your other half do most of the "moving" part of moving house, and take it easy.

i do hope you get things sorted out, as you really dont need this in life (at any time) let alone when you are moving and having a wedding. Good Luck.

WTF hunny, Oh I am sorry. That must have been awful for you. The NHS does make some major blunders in individuals care sometimes. Maybe keep a record of anything and everything that doesn't go according to plan and use it as ammunition as to why the GP should send you private?? Hope this helps.xx

    Well ladies,

sorry i have slacked at keeping you up to date, i am now on a further 8 weeks light duties only. The doctor was unhelpful and did not listen to me and said only come back if it gets worse.

Now i have been to physiotherapy and the physio was shocked at how much pain i was in and how badly im walking and wasnt happy the hospital arent doing any more.

I am now waiting on an urgent mri appointment to look at the nervous system as its possible this could be causing it. :(

    Not getting anywhere quick :(

Martay, i read up on that its sounds nasty! We thoughts that what it may have been but it isnt. I have no diagnosis its just a waiting game. Cant actually walk around without morphine so my biggest fear at the moment is that to walk down the aisle i will have to be morphined up! Is it too much to ask that i would just like a drink to toast my own wedding?!!!

Hope your ok, i also have a mobile pharmacy in my handbag lol!

Thanks ladies, ill try my best to keep you all up to date xx

Hun keep going and stand your ground ....18yrs ago i started getting alot on pain in my left hand ...was sent to see various people and told that i had Thorasic outlet syndrome ( i said i thought something was wrong with my shoulder ....9 years later that pain attacks were getting alot worse and having moved areas i went to my new doctor where i got sent to the first of the many specialists ..
over the last nine years i have had 4 mri`s ,angiogram, vascular scan, brain scan, electric currents sent down my arm, x-rays .....2 years ago they found that i had moderate degenoration of the entire shoulder joint and had an op to remove the crumbled bone.
well i`m back next month to have it done again as i still dont have full movement .

but this is all only because i stood my ground and kept saying the pain was to do with my shoulder (pain in my hand is gone now!!)

Contact your local PALS office, (ring local hospital and ask switch board to put you through) Tell them the problems you are having and find out who you can see to get a second opinion. They are a liason service that deal mainly with complaints, but as they are seperate from the hospitals and the doctors (I think) they know the loop holes and often sort things out for people. I know if I asked my doctor for a second opinion he'd probably send me to his golf buddy and I'd feel like they'd conspired to make sure they're not having to pay for tests/procedures in diagnosis and fixing.

That's just awful! (your pain *and* the problems with your appointments!) If you do get a second opinion, make sure you still go for the MRI. If it shows that it's a trapped nerve causing the pain than epidurals can help immensely!! It might be a possibility as you say this came on suddenly :-/

In any case, hope they figure it out soon!!
