We have now decided to have a 4 course meal for our wedding breakfast rather than doing two buffets.
This has ment we have had to cut down from 150 to 60 (it was not easy) but do you include young children?
I honestly can not see my nieces and nephews managing even the main let alone another 3 courses.
If you do include include children at what age would you say they have the 4 course meal? We are thinking of asking the venue if they would be willing to do a child's menu.
I'm so confused by it all.

Your venue should be to provide an option for children and a different price too. We have a 3 course children menu which is obviously smaller portions than the adults which is for 12 and under and children 5 and under we don't pay for. We also have some who are between 13-16 so the venue have said they can have the children options if they wish but they will do a full size portion for them.

We have to include children any age in numbers 0-3 fee and 3-16 are 25% and can just have a smaller portion of main or pick children's menu- each venue is different so just need to ask- no way could I cut to 60 guests- we can only just squeeze in 100 and 150 for evening- even then we have a reserve list!

Is it that you can afford 60 or the venue space has limited you to 60. We are limited to 70 by venue space but you need to remember that a child still takes up a seat at the table. We have 8 children at our wedding which are all included in the 70

We only included adults in the full meal full cost headcount. Children were counted seperately and we paid for children's meals ar a fraction of the cost of an adult meal. I'd say children's meal would be up to 12 years old. Older children have large appetites as they're growing. When I was a teenager I'd eat double what I do now and still be skinnier! So unfair!

Thank you ladies. I have to admit we don't have a venue yet. Had to cancel the old one they got very rude and demanding. The owner was going all bridezilla on me telling how MY wedding was going to be....Pretty sure that's my job!
Anyway we thought if we worked out wedding breakfast etc we could get a better idea for costs for potential venues. Most of the venues/packages we can afford are between 60-70 adults. Hence why we have cut down on day guests. Space wise the smallest venue we like can seat 80.
We have 50 Adults and 18 under 12's, 1 of which will only be 11 months old and 4 will be 2.

You won't need to usually worry about kids under 2 years as they only need a small side plate of veggies and maybe a little meat which some venues are happy to include without extra cost or will be a very minimal cost. We didn't pay for the food for the toddlers at our wedding. We only paid for proper 3 course children's food for our 3 year old (at the time) FG which I think was £25. Then the package meals were all allocated to adults.

Oh right. Our old venue was same price for all children so I assumed it would be the same everywhere. Thanks IDL.
A friend is currently getting quotes on the venues for us, as my brother was talking to him about the wedding and mentioned what has happened, so he messaged me and told me if we wanted he would get the quotes as he dj's in all the venue in our area so would most likely get everything discounted.
