Hey everyone, We were planning our wedding for October 2015 as we got engaged in 2013 thinking this would be enough time to save and decide what we would like. However due to stress and job issues we have decided to postpone until 2017. I have no problem with this but I have already paid for my dress and as its a sale dress due to the shop closing down ( i love my dress and thought id grab a bargain) and i cannot for obvious reasons return it. I'm also worried about maintaining my weight till then aahhh!! We live in a flat and i haven't got anywhere to keep it other than in the cupboard but its not tall enough meaning i have to fold it. Do you have to air it out every so often? My dress is an opulence Brazil dress. Any tips on how i can keep it in good condition would be amazing!! Thank you!!

Could you lay it flat on top of a wardrobe? I've heard that keeping it in a duvet cover is recommended, and with mine my MOH got it out a couple of days before and boiled a kettle in the room. After that you do need to let it air for a bit to avoid condensation.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I bought mine 2 years and 8 months in advance. For the most part we stored it in a bag we'd fashioned out of a super-king-size duvet cover, then for a while it was at the shop, then for the last 2 months we had it stored in the bag again. We actually drilled a hook into the ceiling at that point as it had been steamed and cleaned (it was a sample used on a fashion shoot) and hung it from that as it allowed the train to hang straight.
I space is more limited, my advice would be to store it in a fabric bag for now, or folded in a box with special tissue (speak to the shop), and then steam it nearer the time to get any creases out.

I stored mine at my parents house, in a breathable wedding dress bag (do not keep it in a plastic bag!). I bought some moth repellers from a supermarket and changed them when required (read the packaging of what I bought). I just hung it in a wardrobe that was tall enough for it.
6 weeks before the wedding I went for fittings and alterations and it was steamed to get out any creases (there weren't many).

After my wedding I got a box with acid free tissue paper. It might be worth getting one of those and then you have it for afterwards for storing as well. I would suggest whichever option you take it out regular as ,well
By the time our wedding is here I will have had my dress for just over a year. It has been hung in a cupboard in the spare room in a breathable bag that was given to me when we bought the dress. When I have my fittings next month it will stay at the dress shop and I would expect it will probably be steamed too.

I haven't even thought abut where to put mine. It's currently in its bag in one of our spare rooms, and I need to get it cleaned too

I just recently had mine cleaned at the dry cleaners and they boxed it in a special wedding dress box and acid free tissue paper, the box has a window in it so I can look at it without opening the lid.

Mine is in a wardrobe in my parents house in a duvet cover. I'm not getting married until 2016 and the lady in the shop told me to store it this way. As other ladies have said it will be steamed when I have alterations done nearer the time so I'm not too worried :)

Its in a white bag it came in from the shop, apparently if i leave it in that near sunlight it will turn the dress yellow is this true?

Is the bag plastic or fabric? It needs to be in fabric so it can breathe, if in plastic take it out and cover in large bed sheets instead.

White bedsheets, not dyed another colour as you don't want to risk colour transfer.
