everyone is different. some people have their meal, then the speeches, then cut the cake.
we are not having speeches so we will be introduced into the room, and we will cut our cake before we eat our meal, as there are no speeches this will be the best time for the toast, during the cake cutting. then we will eat our meal and the cake will be served with the coffee at the end of the meal.

it also depends what kind of cake it is, ours is fruit cake. some people have sponge cake and use that cake as there dessert. in which case it needs cutting before you sit down for your meal to give them time to cut it into portions.

It's a matter of personal choice. Some people have it as their desert, some after the meal and others in the evening. xx

i think tradition is wedding breakfast, speeches then cut the cake and it gets taken away and bought back in the evening.

    this is what we did

reading the reviews it sounds like it tastes great also, there are lots of cakes they do, i begrudge paying alot of money for one when the cake to us isnt that important, as long as it tastes good we are happy wish i could make my own though x

am tempted to make my own...was watching a baking programme on tv where lady made a three-tier cake with white icing and red polka dots and just looked gorgeous - not that i'm necessarily going to have anything red at the wedding - haven't decided that yet - but the cake looked amazing! just afraid would add to the stress...but on the other hand might be a good diversion from everything else!

i know if i had the time and patients and knew that i wouldnt be stressed! the morning of then i would do it myself (think i would be to judgmental tho if i made it right and if it looked nice!) that is an awsome idea having the cake at the breakfast and chocolate fountain at night!

a fake cake sounds great!!! hmmm cog wheels are turning, i told my mum (who has not had any negative opinions towards ideas for the wedding) she said no its your wedding, only cause i wanted a chocolate catapillar cake from asda and a few of there BIG chocolate cakes

i could decorate a fake cake if i did one as i used to go to the glasgow food tech and did baking and cake deco! :S might talk her around make sure she gets a big slice :P ;)

madhen what is your colour theme! xxx

umm.....good question! should really decide that some time...! i've been looking at bouquets and stuff in magazines and i quite like the vintage-y kind of ones with pale creams and pinks and little roses, and i like sort of wild flowers, so maybe something along those lines?? i really am so hopeless - can't even decide on bridesmaids. have no sisters and a pile of cousins so couldn't have all the cousins anyway...and then a lot of my friends are closer than cousins anyway and AAAARRGGHHH!!!!! so difficult!!!

yeah think that's a nice way, though sometimes ppl have speeches before the meal to get them out of the way so the men can enjoy their meal better...! sorry, will shut up, am just confusing things!

yeah mazi it's hard to choose but i know i want the people i choose, not the ones i feel i should choose.... h2b's sister ended up being persuaded to have someone she didn't really want as bridesmaid and she only got to have one bridesmaid so she's regretted it ever since and told me def do what i want not what i feel other people expect!
