    Hi

My wedding isn't until October 2016 - I have found my dress which I absolutely love. But I had a baby 5 months ago and I'm breastfeeding at the moment. I am planning by June this year to have finished breastfeeding and then to order my dress the end of July so ordered 14 months in advance.

The assistant at the shop talked to me like I am stupid for waiting and said there isn't any need as the dress can be changed up ton2 dress sizes!i would agree if there was a rush but as time is on my side surely it's better to wait.

Just wondering what people's opinion is on this? X

Do what you are comfortable with.

Some sales assistants in bridal stores don't care about anything but their commission and meeting targets so are really pushy. I came across a couple of them when dress shopping for my dress and bridesmaids dresses. Needless to say I walked out and took my custom elsewhere.

Sounds ok to me. Mine took about 7 months to arrive, but like you say, you have time on your side with 14 months spare.

Most bridal stores/designers want 6-9 months so 14 months is tonnes of time.

That's what I think - but she was so rude.
Im going back Thursday with my mother in law to show her and to try it again. I'm not taking my money with me purely so she can't pressure me into ordering!
I have also found another shop which stocks it so will go there and see what there customer service is like. I was always a bit worried about this shop as it has a bad reputation but has huge selection and God I love my dress to pieces and it was one she suggested - I just feel there is no need for me to rush in to ordering.
In comparison to the other shop I visited who were so lovely and even advised I go away and think about it and take my time as its a huge choice! Shame they don't stock this designer.
Thanks for the replies - my first time posting x

Good plan. I wouldn't give them any money. Hopefully the other store has far better service and you can get the dress from them instead.

if they made you feel uncomfortable in anyway, and you know they stock the dress somewhere else , don't go back. Go to the other shop and try it on again there. The lady is right though in saying that it doesn't matter whether breastfeeding or not when you order it so no need to wait, but order when you want to not because someone makes you feel silly for not ordering now. They should never make you feel like that. Should be giving you a fab experience :)

yeah don't let anyone pressure you, once you have stopped feeding, you may lose some boobs etc, yes they can alter it upto 2 sizes, but that costs extra money in alterations, which if you wait you may be able to avoid.
I ordered my dress with 24 months to go, as i knew it was the one. we paid a depoit, but asked them to hold off ordering it with the dress company till 18 months before if they could (unless they discovered it was going to be discontiued) which they did , so it arrived with 12 months to go. now I only have 4 months to go. and still love it. Thought i would have to have the length shortened, but once i put it on with a hoop it the right length. perfecto.
Looking forward to my fittings in june.

If u love the dress ask when the shop would actually order it in (ud be measured in time for ordering)

I found my dress in july exactly a year to date for weddin(just happened that way) but they didnt physically measure me untill december so it wasnt orderd untill december...im waiting for it to come in atm

If your in no rush to order it but would like to secure it then i say put a deposit down :-)

Jus read the shop was rude etc so yea i say look elsewhere but if it feels right theres nothing stopping you if thats their policy to take deposit etc

My shop is deposit then up to 50% before they order and 100% balance paid once dress is in shop
mine was paid 100% before december in just waiting now! Lol

I would defo go with the other store if I didn't feel comfy with there service and if another shop stocks it then defo try them to see how they are with you, I really don't think you need to be ordering now as the bigger the size the more for alterations and you may loose quiet a bit after stopping breast feeding x
