The cut off date for our day invites is this coming Saturday. We've had quite a few replies (and only two that have said no), but we've only had a handful of replies from the evening invites which didn't have a cut off date on them.

What is a reasonable amount of time to give before chasing up both please?

I would chase the day invites as soon as your R.S.V.P date has passed, I would then chase the evening invites after you have chased all the day invites.

Yeah so I'd chase after you've finished chasing day invites, you don't want to leave it too late and be stressing about whether you have answers in time.

I started chasing as soon as the date passed. The date is there for a reason. People should respect that.

I know a couple of people are on holiday and my Great Aunt has been poorly and checked herself into a hospice, so she may not have had post etc picked up.

It seems to be the local ones that are being slow! The ones that were sent further afield have responded really quickly.

H2B thinks it's a waste of time chasing up unanswered evening invites. It's mostly his family that haven't responded yet. I disagree and think they should be. Who is right?

I think you should chase them up, as your venue will want an idea of numbers. It's okay if there's only one or two you are unsure of, but if there is quite a few it seems a waste to cater for them if they're not going to turn up, but if they do turn up you don't want to have not catered for enough.

Yep I think you should chase as well even if it is an evening invite. You need to have a rough figure on numbers attending, especially if you are catering for them as well.

I'd chase as soon as the deadline has passed. For the evening invites I'd chase 2 weeks before you need final numbers.

I would chase day invites as soon as the RSVP date has passed. That will give u plenty of time to send out new day invites if u want to bump people up. Weve sent our invites out with a month RSVP. After this we will do evening invites and send out and bump people up if needed.

I chased up RSVPs as soon as the closing date had passed :) I don't think I will bother chasing up evening invites as I know who is invited and people who are coming to the day are staying for the evening so I'll have enough food and space eitherway :)

OH's Sister didn't bother chasing up her evening invites and apparently didn't know who was going to turn up! He said that he would ask his Mum but she would probably say not to bother. I personally think it's really rude not answering and don't want to pay for food that won't get eaten. I had a conversation with a friend and my Mum about. Friend thinks that if people can't be bothered to reply then to take it that they aren't coming, but if OH wants to ask his Mum to mention it then it's up to her. My Mum said to ask his Mum who is likely to turn up and chase them. I've told him that he needs to get his Mum to speak to his Aunties and pass on to his Cousins that if they don't reply we'll take it they're not coming and they won't be catered for. We'll give it til 13th February and then chase them

That's true but our evening buffet is part of our package so wouldn't really be at a loss if people couldn't come though I know a fair few said they'd come :)

I agree, it's very rude not to say if they are coming or not. A date is there for a reason, if they don't replu by then then chase, fortunately I only had to chase a few, some never sent the rsvp back, but those replied via a message on social media to say yay

I'll be chasing our rsvp's over this next week as the cut off for day was 18th January and the evening was 30th January. Our venue doesn't need final numbers until 7 days before hand. I've left it a couple of weeks to allow for people to get them in and had a couple more but still need to chase the odd one.

We're paying quite a lot for our catering (it does include bar and table and chair hire) and I'd rather know whose coming than have a surprise on the day. Seems a bit disorganised to not know. I was talking to a friend yesterday about it and she said that they had people that still hadn't decided whether they were coming on the day of the wedding!

Luckily we don't have too many to chase, so my next question is how do I politely say 'we needed your RSVP yesterday'?

Are you going to send a txt/FB message to remind people? if so what i would do is...

Hi, Im just checking if you received the invite to our wedding on such date could you let us know if you are able to make it or not as we need to let the caterers know numbers so that there is enough buffet for everyone.

We wont be offended if you cane make it but could you please let us know.

Thanks and hopefully see you soon xx

    or something to that affect
