Why is that you buy the most expensive dress in your life and you can only wear it once? :( I've got my wedding dress sitting here in a suit carrier and I have no idea what to do with it. The bottom layer got a little bit torn so don't think I could sell it and the thought of getting rid of it is horrible. I just wondered what everyone else did with theirs?

I saw something on pinterest which was quite lovely, with a lace dress, where the bride had had pendants made with some of the lace from the train to give to daughters and grandchildren as their "something old" when they got married. My mother kept hers until I was about 20, and then gave it to charity... What sort of dress is it? Is it the sort of thing you could have re-designed and altered into a shorter dress you could wear on special occasions? xx

I love my dress and love the detail so am going to have mine boxed and put on my wall ( I know some ppl think it's stupid n that) but it cost alt of money and seem pointless selling it or giving away when it's so beautiful and to have it and be able to look aT it and remember the day is something special to me. It's going to be expensive from look of it as it's a boxed frame with perspecs ( how ever u spell it) but it's some thing different and lovely I personally think x

You might be able to sell it, I don't know how much you'll get for it though. I know a couple of people that have had their dress altered (quite dramatically) and made shorter and less "dressy" so it becomes a dress that is much less wedding-y and can be worn again. This all depends on the sort of dress you have though :) x

I've got it packed away in a box with acid free tissue paper. I get it out every so often though, but keeping it as my girls want it, whether it will still be in 'fashion' then though I do not know
My aunt had her children's christening dresses made out of hers

My mum kept hers - still has part of it in the loft, but no idea what condition its in as she got married in 1974! When we were kids, she used her wedding dress to make dancing outfits for me and my sister! So it was recycled in some form. She'll kill me for this, but their wedding snap from 1974!

That's a lovely photo Lindsey :)
I will definitely keep mine and potentially use the material for other special items in the future.

Mine was cleaned and boxed up professionally, box has acid free tissue paper in. There's a viewing window at the frknt/top of the box so I can look at it whenever I want without taking it out.

I had mine cleaned and boxed professionally as well. It will be preserved so I could wear it again or pass it down the family.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I found out that Morley Hayes, Near Morley in Derbyshire does a dance and get together for people who would like to wear their wedding dresses again, there would be other people there wearing their old dresses, but at least you would be able to wear your dress again :). I am unsure how much it is but they do this once a year, they might have the information on their website, There might be other places near to where you are that does this as well, hope this helps :).

I had mine cleaned and boxed up. We had our reception in a goods shed at a railway museum so the bottom was black by the end of the day, but the dry cleaners did a brilliant job of cleaning it. A few people asked why I kept it, but I spent a lot of money on it and it's a memento of a special day so there was no way I was selling it! It's in a nice box on top of my wardrobe now. My veil is hanging in the wardrobe so I need to find a nice box to put it in to keep it safe.

I recently saw a post about a company that you can give your wedding dress to and they make dresses from it for still born babies. I thought that was a sweet thing if you are not bothered about getting much back for it in monetary value.

I got it cleaned where I purchased th dress, they done me a deal. You need to get it cleaned where they can clean with detailing. I then folded the dress up neatly lining each layer with tissue paper,
