Bought a really nice silver calligraphy pen to write out our place cards and when I was practising today, I couldn't remember how you write guests names on them...can anyone help?

Do you put the guests full name (i.e. Jennifer Stokes); the name they are known as (i.e. Jenny Stokes) or just their first name? Cannot for the life of me remember what friends have done.

Also for the top table, do you write mum/dad/Jenny/Simon etc; Mother of the Bride/Father of the Bride/Bride/Groom etc; or just their names as with the other guests?

How are you writing your place cards?

I'd put full names... But we're having a big wedding. If it was more intimate and there was only going to be one Sarah or Laura then I might put first names. I'd definately put mum and dad on the top table.

Thanks for that, we're having 60 guests in the daytime and there will be a table plan with full names on, but we will have more than one Claire on one table as I have 4 friends with the name lol.

you can do it either way hun, I used everyone's first name only as we had a pretty informal small wedding with about 52 people. If you have written full names on the table plan, I'd write the full name on the place cards too ... then the wrong Claire won't sit in the wrong place lol x

We are doing full names and bride, groom, mother of the bride... etc because they can then take them home if they want and it will be a reminder, my mum actually asked for hers to say mother of the bride so she could keep it as a keepsake! bless her. xx

I am doing first names or in some cases nicknames (which are always used) which I am stamping on with a small rubber stamp set I have.
Not sure yet about the numbers but everything has a relaxed feel.

Well our place cards are our favours too as they are the macmillan pin badges attached to the place card, so we do want guests to take them home.

we have an old fashioned venue and the history can be dated back such an unbelievable distance and so we are going to have monarch eras e.g. elizabethan, and on the back, we will have the history of the venue at that time period, therefore guests can go and nose at other eras to get a full history of the place. We thought that was very unique

Ha ha - I was just reading your first post suzky thinking "erm...ok?!?" lol.

I think we're going to just put first and second names now except for top table which will have Mother of the Bride etc underneath (if I can fit it on). I'll put a pic of our placecards.

We just wrote the first names - except for my dad and our best man, as they're both called Richard so we included a surname lol.

We're doing full names for the table plan, and we're only having place names on the top table, which are hand stitched hanging hearts - these will be first name only, all other tables can sit how they please :-)
