My veue is doing mine as part of their service. If they didn't I would get either a family member to do it or someone else as you don't want to be stressing or running around on your wedding morning. Its far better to relax and let others do that for you. I'm sure if you set up a table and did photos with instructions a family member could do it just as well if you didn't want to pay someone to do it.

I am doing it all myself with a little help from MOH and MIL2b. H2b will put the marquee up, but tbh I wouldn't be happy letting someone else do it as no doubt I would find the tiniest fault in it, lol. So I will put linen on tables, crockery all set with favours and napkins and decorate my bird cages etc. Will probably do the bunting with h2b but that is it, as much as he would be happy to do more, he knows what I am like, and with a bit of peace and quiet I can get it done quicker. The down side to being a perfectionist I guess, lol. x
And I think 4 hours is plenty of time, but of course depends on what you are actually doing, what are you decorating your venue with? x

Aww that would look cute, lol. Well I think 4 hours is plenty of time to decorate, you want to be able to take your time and not rush about. I am having a similar number of guests with 2 babies and 3 toddlers, never thought about decorating their high chairs, good idea though! :)

I'm leaving the decorating up to my sister - who is an events planner, so both a family mamber and a professional!

The time ... depends on how many bridesmaids you have and how difficult it is to get into your dress. I'm having my hair & make up done, and make up for three bridesmaids and my mum ... the lady is coming over at 0945, the ceremony is at 4pm! I thought I'd have all morning free, but apparently not LOL xx

myself and mum etc are going the evening before to decorate our venue, we can't afford to pay a prof n i wouldn't ask the venue as im too picky n would rather go myself to make sure everythings where it should be lol. but 4 hrs seems like a pretty reasonable time to get ready hun, it's around how long i plan to take as we get married at 1pm and i dont want to get up too early xx

I'm getting married at 4pm, and I'm decorating myself with Mum's help. Venue have said if they don't have anything booked for the day before I can go in and setup then, otherwise I can store all the stuff in the "armoury" (room next to the dining area) the day before, and then go in on the morning to setup (or leave instructions for the venue for where stuff should go). Bless them, they seem really helpful. Co-ordinator is terrible at remembering to email me stuff, but otherwise she's really nice, and nothing seems to be an issue.

I'm going to pre-build all the centre-pieces, so it should just be a case of plonking the organza runners down, putting the centre-pieces in place, and sprinkling table confetti, so I hope it won't take long, as I think the venue will lay the tables other than that.... Not having chair covers so that speeds things up....

Think our wedding planner is doing ours but I will def be there to 'oversee' things as I'm a little fussy when it comes to how I like things. 4 hours should give you plenty of time as long as you have everything prepared.

The chief waitress at our venue is doing ours, meeting her the day before with all the bits and pieces to show her how I want it presented.... hopefully she will be sensible and do it right! Two friends are going to the venue in the morning to do our balloons so will make sure they keep an eye on it all as well, the chair cover lady will be going in as well to do all her bits and I'm sure she will interfere (in a good way!) as she is very artistic and knows what looks good! And I've asked her to take pics before all the guests arrive so I can see it in all its glory before the guests go in and start spoiling it! LOL!

ooo im glad this has come up as i was going to ask about this too! i emailed my venue asking about this and they said they are happy to do little things like put scatter crystals, favours, petals etc on table and in ceremony room but they will not do floral arrangements which is fine because my florist will do this. but i dont think they will put the chair sashes on ( i am waiting for a response). if they dont i dont know who to get to do it. i dont want it to be any of the guests because they will be getting ready. and i didnt want to do it myself because i know this will stress me out. because i have bought the sashes myself i do not have someone from a company to do it for me. my wedding is at 2 and we cant do it the night before because there is a wedding the day before too. i feel a little annoyed that they are only willing to do little things but are willing to take thousands from me.

im going the night before to do mine ( both at the ceremony and reception venue) as i want to be able to add the extra little touches that are personal to me and my H2B as my venue doesnt have a wedding co-ordinator so there is no-one to do it.

Also i want it to be perfect and im really @nal about wanting things a certain way - but dnt tell H2B as im using the 1st excuse on him lol

i would get a family member to decorate it for you if u dont want a professional so its one less thing whizzing around your head stopping you sleeping the night before. We are paying a florist to come in and do the whole thing and crewe hall will also set it up for us provided we drop things off 24 hours before. MIL2B is going to add some extra roses tho and is coming one hour early.

i said no to 4 hours t get ready as my hairdresser said for all of us (5) the he needs 6 hours for hair and make up and what if you overrun dressing the venue?

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

Helium balloons if doing it yourself tends to only last for about 8 hours or so, I was going to do mine the night before but another bride posted that they would start losing the helium by the morning, so I guess that is another job I will be doing the morning of the wedding, or get h2b to do it down at his parents and someone can just go and pick them up. xx
