I got engaged back in February and hoping to get married in July 2016. We're looking to have a small wedding with close family and friends in either Cyprus or Turkey then a big party when we are back.

Hi Kellie.. congratulations and welcome! To be honest, I would just spend a couple of months just enjoying being engaged and spending quality time together before you embark on wedding plans, as although it's all exciting it can also be very stressful.. So I say put the wedding plans on hold for now and just enjoy your engagement!
When you feel ready to start planning the first thing to do is look at your budget. Sit down and work out what you can realistically save every month and from here you can see how long it will take you to save up a certain amount of money. Have a look around at venues and see how much you are looking at for these. Think about how many people you are going to be inviting and the cost per head etc.
P1interest is an excellent place to look at wedding ideas to give you an idea of themes, colour schemes etc.
You will get loads of help and advice on this forum. It's amazing and everyone is so friendly and helpful :) xx

Welcome! Oh wow 6 years is a long time.. we were engaged 2 and a half years before actually planning our wedding and I thought that was quite a long time! I've personally liked having a longer engagement though - we will have been engaged for 4 and a half years by the time we get married :)
