I got engaged in July this year at the place where we had our first date. We have set the date being 25th June 2016 2 days before our 4th anniversary, we have already sent out save the dates as Russ has family in America and Australia. We managed to get our dream venue which was the best feeling ever as we have been on quite a few dates and picnics at the location.
I'm not sure what else needs to be booked or arranged in advance I've already tried on some dresses as I didn't have a clue what style dress I wanted.
Any help or advise would be great.
Thank you
Kelly :)

Hi Kelly, congratulations and welcome to UKBride! I am getting married 14th May 2016 so not too far away from you. So far I have booked my venue, photographer, DJ and flowers and started buying little things like my shoes, guestbook etc. You can start booking things like that just to be sure your date will be available but you could wait until about a year before too. Having said that though I know a few people on here have booked almost everything about this far in advance, it just depends on you, if you know what you want and have the money available there's no harm booking as much as you want now :) x

Hi Kelly, welcome to the forum :) I'm 18th June 2016 so just a week before you! It was important for us to book the bigger things first (things more likely to book up) i.e. venue, magician, harpist, DJ and photographer. We've also arranged transport, ordered materials to make our invitations, I have my shoes, we've started on our favours, we know what bridesmaids dresses we are having and are currently in discussions with someone about making them.. We basically know exactly what we want now, but just a case of spreading the cost and systematically working our way through everything! After Christmas it will be all systems go for us - the longer we have to spread the cost and the stress the better!
If you haven't already, I would sit down and create a spreadsheet so you get a good idea of what you can realistically save per month and what everything is going to cost. You can tick things off as you go along, make notes of all deposits paid and add notes etc. I've found my spreadsheet really useful - keeps my mind organised as well as the finances (it's also really scary looking at just how much there is to pay for!!!) x

Hi Everyone,
Im getting married on 4th July 2015 :-). Ive been engaged a year tomorrow after being with my fiancée for 7 years :-) Im having a catholic church wedding in Chelmsford and then having the Reception at Down Hall in Hertfordshire.
My theme is glamorous/Romantic/Fairytale, im not sure exactly what theme it is.
So far ive booked, the church & registrars, Wedding Venue, Cars, photographer, videographer, DJ's, chair sashes and wedding dress.
Ive still got a lot to do and the one thing im struggling with Is finding dusky pink bridesmaids dresses!? My budget is up to £100 per dress and I ideally would like then to be long chiffon floaty dresses. If you can recommend anywhere that would be great :-). xxx
Hi everyone My h2b and i are getting married on the 30th april 2016 or at least hoping too as nothing booked yet as vicar cant see us until january 2015. so am currently planning it all. im a little stuck on the 'wedding breakfast' i alway thought it was after the cermony but ive been told your normally have that before the cermony. I would like an afternoon wedding and h2b doesnt mind as its his 2nd time, however i thought for the speeches etc between cermony and evening reception to have afternoon tea with sandwiches, cake and tea or coffee. as surely most people would eat before the wedding? can i ask what peoples thoughts are? im pretty much have the rest sorted ;-)xxx
CommentAuthorFlossie
Hi and welcome Sarah and Holly :-)
Holly, the wedding breakfast happens after the ceremony. It's your first meal together as husband and wife. Lots of people skip the wedding breakfast these days and do afternoon tea/buffets etc. If I was going to a wedding I wouldn't beforehand IF I knew there was going to be adequate food there. You just need to make sure you cater for everyone and make it clear in your invitations what will be happening I think :-) it will save you a lot of money cutting out a 3 course wedding breakfast though x

Hi Flossie :-)
Thank you for your reply.
We will have a buffet in the evening for the reception, I dont fancy a wedding breakfast and h2b doesnt mind either he left it all to me to plan! we like to keep the cost down where we can. I thought afternoon tea would be nice and relaxed as well as have the speeches then too.
CommentAuthorFlossie
Yes it would be lovely :-) remember it's your day so you have whatever you want! A formal sit down 3 course meal with the whole seating plan etc. isn't for everyone, afternoon tea would be great! I would include on your invitations that you are having afternoon tea so your day guests can make their own minds up whether or not they will want to eat anything before they leave x

Hi I'm Sammi an I got engaged to my partner Dan in April 2014.
We originally set our wedding date as 18th June 2016 but my grandad who is giving me away is in bad health and doesn't think he will make that date so we have had to bring the wedding forward and are now getting married 12th September 2015.
Nothing is yet booked except the venues and i am in a bit of a pickle trying to find what order or work out some sort of plan as to which thing i do next. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thank You.

Hello everyone! I'll be getting married on August 2015 -we can't wait longer due to family issues- and my fiancé and I are planning on having a religious ceremony in Mexico and the civil one in the UK. I have no idea on how to plan a wedding, not to mention two! My family in Mexico will help me with the planning on the wedding there, but I'm really struggling with the English wedding. Any help will be really appreciated!
