Hi everyone, I'm a newbie!
The boy and I have been together since May 2004, when we met at school. We got engaged May 2011 and wedding is booked for our 12 year anniversary in May 2016.
I am so unbelievably excited to marry my bestest friend.

I have joined as I'm wanting a different wedding, so looking for some new and different ideas that we could incorporate.

Welcome to all newbies and huge congratulations! I am a newbie myself being engaged for just over two weeks. We don't have a date set yet but thinking of summer 2016. Venue/reception is dependent on his childhood parish church if the priest will marry us. I am on a 2 year work contract in the US and will return to Blighty for good after Dec 2015, so HTB is very much involved with planning the wedding. The only thing he is not involved in is with my wedding dress.

I'm hoping to incorporate some Filipino wedding rites and hoping to have a Filipino wedding designer to design and make my gown using fabric/material that is indigenous to the Philippines (pineapple fiber - made entirely by hand from the pineapple leaves.)

My name is Becky and i am marrying my best friend Emily on 4th November 2016. 4/11 is our acutal anniversary of when we got together. :-) We have been engaged since Nov 2013 and currently have the venue booked and booking the photographer this weekend. We have lots of ideas even have a folder full of dividers and lots of cuttings from brides magazines! Cant wait to become Mrs :-)

Hello everyone!

We got engaged in August on a beautiful island off the coast of Panama. Hoping to get married September 2015. Am having a Unitarian service in London as a way to balance the want for a church wedding with someone that accepts and understands a whole range of beliefs. I am getting married in 2016 also.. June. We started planning everything at the 2 year mark (just before to be honest), and booked the venue and registrar. Shortly after we also booked our DJ, photographer and harpist - things that are likely to book up quickly. We have since booked a magician and discussed transport.

I think the sooner you start booking the bigger things the better as you don't want to lose out, particularly if you have a supplier in mind and really want to use them. I would hold back before buying the more detail-y bits, i.e. decorations and the like, as your tastes might change. I would spend a good few months looking online for loads of ideas so you can get a really good picture of what it is you actually want and what you like.

The sooner you start planning the longer you have to spread the cost as well which is a big bonus :)

Are you thinking of taking out wedding insurance? Most policies will cover any deposits paid up to 2 years before your wedding date. So anything you pay out now would be covered, which gives you a bit of peace of mind xx
