Aww Mrs M, yours are lovely!!!

Just had an email back for a quote for the invitations (a different supplier). £5.75 per invite.. bit pricey!! I would like to potentially make them myself but have no idea where I would start... ?!?!

Ladies, I have added mock ups of the invitation, RSVP card, venue information card and our honeymoon wish poem to my album 'Invitation Mock Ups'. It would be greatly appreciated if you could have a look at them and let me know what you think :)

The invitation will be the biggest, with everything else decreasing in size, so biggest at the bottom and smallest at the top, all tied together with twine and a key handing from the bow once tied. The invites etc. themselves I think will be put onto cream coloured card with lace all round the edges.

Not 100% sure about the images on the RSVP card yet, and I know some of the text isn't completely accurately centered, but they are just the drafts at the mo. Have I missed anything important?? Xx

Been on a roll today :) transferred £150 to wedding savings and bought bits and bobs for the invitations.. Some bargains, really pleased!

    30m of lace for £2.97
    50m of twine for £1.79
    50 sheets of 210gsm card for £4.00
40 keys for £3.74 (only really needed 25 max but they came in batches of 20)

All apart from the card is ordered from China via e bay, so will take a little while to come, but at those prices I can't really complain. All the printing and the paper will be free as nicking work's resources hehe ;) so now it's just the envelopes I will need to buy. Not going all out on the evening invitations either.. will probably just print them and leave off all the detail-y bits, so will just be printed on nice paper and put in an envelope.

Will work out so much cheaper doing these myself than getting them done by someone!

There should be enough twine for the favour jars as well hopefully :) they should work out fairly cheap also with my auntie saving up baby jars meaning we don't have to buy them.. Will order the material tops for them soon then it's just the sweeties to get nearer the time which will be cheap in bulk :) x

Got 5 different pastel polka dot bits of material :) £9.20 all together including postage and will make up about 45 jars. Loving a bargain... :)

Get you being ultra organised! You've given me a bit of an inspirational kick up the butt to gather up all the s
things I have bought and sectionise it all and order the remaining bits, then it's full steam ahead (when it arrives!) Gonna get measurements sorted today to order my dress too. Eeeek!!

It's truly amazing seeing all your ideas come together. Thanks for the motivation!

Yeah it is our plan to really get going in the new year too Mrs M.. get Christmas out the way and it's full steam ahead. Will be so beneficial to get as much done as possible the earliest you can though.. will save a lot of stress nearer the time (hopefully)!

There is a lot involved with all the stationary though! Table plans, place cards, invitations, table names.. I think I will attempt to do all that myself. We are also liking the idea of having bird cages as our centre pieces, with flowers garlands wrapped around the bars with a battery operated candle in the middle of them.. probably buy some scatter crystals or something as well to dot round them x

Just found something perfect! Little cards with 'the key to a happy marriage is......' written on them for guests to fill in. Will fit in perfectly with the locks and keys theme we've got going on. I could even re-make them and print them out myself so they would be freeeeee :) would just need a little box or something to 'post' them in x

Flossie, love the idea of the cards! I've seen some boxs online for cards, and I think it's quite cheap... you can look for some wood small box, and you can dye it anyway you want... and keep it open with a sign like "Cards" or "Advises" on it :)

Aww I am glad that you have got all the little bits and bobs you needed, it sounds like it is all coming together gradually! Lovely! Also, I was thinking of doing something similar with guests writing some advice down or a good date idea etc. I was just going to get a large glass jar or something ad decorate it similar to the jars I have been making up for table decorations. Maybe you could do something similar if you have any spare jars around? I am also going to be doing a honeymoon fund jar as we don't have any room in our budget for a honeymoon. Have you started to make the invites yet or are you still waiting on some of the stuff to arrive? xx

Oooh a glass jar is a good idea.. Can decorate it fairly cheaply as well and won't take up much room :) we want a post box for our cards and will also be asking for honeymoon money (like an actual post box.. cream and gold in colour though, not red). Might be better for us to hire it as opposed to buying one or making one as it would probably look really naff if I attempted to actually make it hah. We did also think about a bird cage (we are having them for centre pieces also) so people can just slot cards/advice bits through the bars.

Still waiting on the bits and bobs.. might take a few weeks as coming from China but in no rush. Will get cracking once everything arrives :) need to buy some glue as well... xx

Ohh exciting. I love the idea of the postbox and the birdcage. I was going to go for a birdcage but then I thought no I really want a vintage case which I will be able to decorate with a little bunting saying cards and a few bits of lace etc. It will fit in more with the theme I have chosen so my FMIL bought me one at a wedding fair we both went to! But the postboxes and the birdcages are becoming more popular now so I can imagine a fair few places will have them available to hire :) xx

Having a search for rings this morning (bored at work hehe). Just found a lovely one from a company that was actually recommended to me on here by a fellow member.. it's a cross over style diamond-set ring which is what I think I want anyway.. £450 which is a fab price. I have seen rings that are pretty much the same in the high street stores at nearer £700-£800!

You can request a sample from them as well and they will send you one so you can try it on and see it with your engagement ring before you actually commit to buy. Think I might be doing that.... They can also make bespoke rings! x

I'm so excited, I've just found shoes that my bridesmaids could wear.. in all 4 different pastel colours to match their dresses! They are only £19.99 per pair as well! Will get their dresses first so I know for sure the exact shades, but these look perfect. Only thing is they are quite high with a 4.25 inch heel.. but I don't think the girls would mind that.

Although, having said that, it would probably make sense in some ways to get their shoes first are their dresses are more than likely going to be custom made, so it would be good to measure them with their shoes on to get the exact length... xx

That's the problem with shoes for me Flossie. I really want to order my dress, but need to take shoe height into consideration when I give my measurements as it's being custom made. I am still really debating whether to have mahoosive heels or an in-between size. If my feet hurt and I have to take them off, my dress won't fit how it should! But I am so used to wearing high heels all the time and can't find any absolutely gorgeous shorter heels. With 18 months to go, I really want to order the dress incase I need to rethink and rebudget. Nobody can make the decision but me, but it's proving impossible!!

Oohh, did you end up getting the rings? My h2b bought my wedding ring together with my engagement ring as they match and he didn't want to risk leaving it and not being able to find one to match. On the other hand, I wanted a ring for him which would match mine, something in white gold, silver or platinum which has a little twist to it and a diamond or two. I have actually seen the perfect one but that isn't something I will be buying yet xx

Not yet, Jessica. I think I will definitely order the sample so I can try it on first.. will probably do that early next year :) At the moment I am pretty sure that's the one I am going to go for though.. fingers crossed! :)

OH wants something a little different as well. He wants a plain band without diamonds but he wants the finish of the metal to be different - kind of a 'hammered' look if you know what I mean so the surface is not smooth. I have a feeling he's going to find a really expensive one, lol. When he finds one he likes though I might send a picture to the company who have my ring and ask them if they can make a custom ring as they would probably be a lot cheaper.

It's lovely when engagement rings and wedding bands match. My engagement ring is quite plain so I've always wanted a wedding band that is a little different and with a bit more sparkle, as my engagement ring is just a single princess cut diamond so want a wedding band that will 'jazz' it up but complement it at the same time xx

Aww that sounds lovely with what you want! My engagement ring has the princess cut diamond in the middle but has a sort of twist on either side with a couple of smaller diamonds and the wedding ring is in a sort of tiara shape so that it fits around it and is encrusted with diamonds along it.
I think I have seen a few rings like what your h2b wants, I certainly know what style it is. I think it would look lovely :) Fingers crossed you can get it made for cheaper xx

I think we are going to send them out mid-late Jan 2016 :) and the evening invites a few months later (I will probably just buy cheap evening invites rather than making those myself as well - not sure yet!)

There's no rush to get started! Just thinking that it will be one more thing done and dusted and less to worry about if I get cracking now! Luckily we are having a relatively small wedding and I'm only anticipating needing to make about 25 (although there are 4 inserts per invitation!) xx

Yeah that's probably a good time, long enough for people to RSVP! I was thinking of sending mine in Dec 15 but with Christmas etc I am worried they might get lost within Christmas cards so I think the beginning of Jan would be best for us too.

I think I only have around 20 to make in total so it shouldn't take me long anyway. I think I will have a play around with them early next year and try to get it right so I can just print them off easily, my design is quite simple anyway I think the hard part will be getting them to print on the card right! x

I did mean to say 2016, not 2015 haha.. edited it now, but you knew I meant 2016 anyway! Jan 2015 would be just a tad early! ;) yeah that's what I'm thinking as well. We're not sending save the dates so we thought about sending them a little earlier, but like you, we thought maybe it would be best to wait until Christmas is over.

I love ours on the screen but no idea what they are going to turn out like once we get crafty with them. It's nothing too complicated so fingers crossed will be ok. I've never been a crafty person and did not imagine for one second I would be making my own wedding invitations haha x

We are going to have an invitation making day too! I have the idea of tying the inserts to the invitation at the corner with some ribbon so will need help with that :)

I am quite crafty but its the sizing I am worried about, I have got A6 size card but I think the design I have done is a lot bigger than that, just need to figure out how to make it smaller without ruining it!
Haha I didn't think I'd be making mine either! But I think it adds a bit more of a personal touch plus you can look at them and think 'I did that' :) x
