I am looking for suggestions on how to keep guests entertained following the ceremony but before the wedding breakfast. I don't really want to have caricaturists or magicians, has anyone got any ideas?
Thanks Amy

I saw a company in a wedding magazine advertising people that dress as trees and scare the life out of guests - I really wanted these as we're having an outdoor wedding I think it would be hilarious but now I can't find them :-(
Apparantly photo booths are huge too, but around £600+.

I went to a wedding fair and they had a chimney sweep you could hire. Still not sure of the point, he just runs about getting into pictures. I told him no because i wasnt having him all dirty near my white dress! lol

It's good luck to see a chimney sweep on the day of your wedding - you'd be very lucky to see one nowadays!
We've got the idea of asking some of our talented friends to perform on a stage. We know poets, singers, musicians and such and we're hoping they wouldn't mind doin something on a stage to entertain people!

Hi everyone,
I was thinking of having some form of entertainment during the day time of wedding after the ceremony to keep the children entertained while the grown ups have some adult time.
I'm just wondering if anyone has ever hired someone in to entertain the children before? How long did they stay for and how much did they charge if you don't mind me asking?
Trying to budget!!!!
Thank you :)

a Photo Booth would be amazing but they only fit into so many themes, maybe a performer could be there to greet your guests. So you could greet them and then in the background is a dancer/singer etc

You could get things like space hoppers so they can do races. If its this hot next yr I'd want a paddling pool! X

On looking at the original post this was made in 2009 and I think the user is no longer active.
That being said if anyone else is looking for ideas we are having quite a few things. Lawn games with hoola hoops, face painting courtesy of my makeup artist who also dabbles in body painting and we also have a vintage photo booth set up where the suppliers use Victorian and Edwardian style old camera rigs and props. Very cool.

Great thread, Its always handy to get ideas on entertainment. How much is too much or not enough?

It depends entirely on you to be honest. All but one wedding I've been to they just had the DJ or Band and the one in question just had a magician as extra entertainment. Because I have 11 kids ranging from a few months to 11 years old I wanted something where the kids (and of course the adults) can have fun doing.
