    ok its most likely me just being simple and dimm but what is a wedding breakfast exactly??? i asked my mum and she said its just a meal and thats it huh why call it a wedding breakfast1!!!! lol please help im just too simple to work it out lol thanks ladies xxx

    Yes that is right... it is the reception meal after the ceremony...!

    It originates apparently from the word Breakfast meaning, "To fast before the wedding and therefore the meal was the BREAK from the FAST"

    Therefore known as the WEDDING BREAKFAST

    Its called breakfast, as it the first meal you have as a married couple. It isnt necessary if your not wanting a formal meal. We are having a picnic and then a bbq later in the evening. xx

    traditionally the bride and groom would fast before the wedding and this would be the first meal of married life as it says break fast i didnt know also so looked it up on the internet

    originally you were only allowed to marry before noon and therefore for it to be a "traditional" wedding breakfast it has to happen before 1pm!
