The ring did arrive in the post too which makes it even better! The posty saved the ceremony as otherwise I would have used a haribo ring haha!

The Beginning We met whilst we were both working at Macky D's in 2007, he was a student, I had 2 jobs, we both started in the September but we only ever said "hi" each shift, nothing more than March 24th my ex came in with a bag of Haribo for me, I was mean, I took the sweets and promptly started handing them out to the staff and kicked him out as we were closing and he wasn’t there to buy anything. Enter mine and Dean’s first conversation.... Dean was washing up and I went to offer him some Haribo, he had wet hands, said he would but with wet hands and smiled, so I said "excuse the fingers" and promptly shoved some Haribo in his mouth. He bit my finger the second time and asked how I was getting home. After explaining to him I only lived a 7minute walk away he insisted on driving or walking me home as at that time of night he didn’t like any girl walking home alone through dark alleys and underpasses. I finally gave in and then invited him in to watch a film our conversation had ended up with and we fell asleep on the sofa. in the morning I looked up at him, he looked down at me, then he kissed me.... in May went on our first holiday together to Run To The Sun festival, in June I broke up with him, the following day we found I was pregnant with our first child. I'm against abortion and he promised to stand by me no matter what I decide to do but was relieved when I told him I was keeping the child.
The Proposal In September 2007 he proposed to me on camera in the drive through just after I finished work (he had come to walk me home) he had already got a new job and left college. The way in which I answered the proposal was “this had better not be because I’m pregnant”. In February we had our son after Dean was asked to choose "mother or child we can’t save both" - he didn’t choose! We both survived.
The Seven Year Itch a number of house moves, job changes & another son later and he broke the engagement off 2011 due to a number of reasons including stress (family problems resulting in the loss of 2 of my family members, a broken family, and a 3yr old that was throwing up every day due to stress etc.). It just got too much; we were still together just no longer engaged.
Before the engagement ended, my grandparents offered to buy the cake (they don’t know it ended) Dean had designed some wedding rings and we paid over £1000 for them, I got my dress, and I had started making the wedding invites and post box.
The Plan January 30th 2013 I fell over nothing and snapped the engagement ring bought for Dean (I was wearing it as it still meant something to me). I the ring replaced for free as it was Tungsten and therefore obviously faulty considering it snapped having hit the ground once. I had a conversation with a mutual friend of ours regarding the ring that had broken and all he had to say was "did it occur to you that it was just on the wrong person?” well see this got me thinking.... and with the help of some of the ladies on this forum I wrote a poem.
On valentines this year I prepared a 3 course meal, I laid the table, bought a few valentines gifts such as £land cufflinks that match the design of our rings, a photo frame with a poem and photo of the two of us, body popping candy and a bell that says "ring for s3x". The table was laid out with black and red table cloths, a black candelabra with red candle sticks, a red strawberry smelling candle, a clear glass bowl filled with water with red hearts in the bottom and floating candles spelling "love", cutlery, crockery, placemats, heart shaped flutes, pulling crackers, wine and a book holder, the poem I wrote was blacked on to black card and faced away from us on the book holder so Dean could not read it early, then in front of the poem but still on the book holder was the menu.
When it was time for dessert I removed the menu, turned the poem round and placed his engagement ring in its open box in front of the poem. Upon reading the poem for the first time dean burst out laughing...
The Poem: You've seen me at my worst I've seen you cry You've helped me loads I've wondered why You broke it off And I've been lost Thinking you Didn't give a toss Our rings were delivered But mine didn't fit So you told me to Get a re-fit Now I know You love me so And all I want Is our love to grow You need a ring I've got the dress We're both broke And life is a mess Together we'll manage We'll make it you'll see So say my love That you'll marry me? We'll share our name With our boy's And have some fun With bedroom toys
Now I'm sure you'll understand why he burst out laughing. The last verse made him forget the question! So I told him to read it again but stop before the last verse... So he did... but then he burst out laughing saying he did stop but he remembered the last verse! He promptly picked up the bell and rang it.... consequently I smiled and told him it must be broken hehe.... anyway... He said YES!

The Planning: The first thing we did was set the date, we always knew we would want to get married on our Anniversary, so the date was set & we agreed on Wednesday 25th March 2015. We had a lot of comments regarding the day of the week we had chosen, however as we kept saying… It’s not the day of the week that matters, it’s the Date that is important to us & we will be married on our 8th Anniversary.
The Ceremony Venue We had always agreed that we would never get married in a Church as we are not religious & would feel like hypocrites if we were to even enquire. We also could not afford the costs involved in marrying in a hotel which is licensed for civil ceremonies as these costs were in excess of £450. The Ceremony was therefore conducted at Huntingdon Registry Office. The Venue cost £70 for our notices (£35 each). The Ceremony itself including the room costs were £170 & we decided to have two copies of the Marriage Certificate costing £8 (£4 each). There was no aisle in the room & the entrance to the room was at the side of the room.
The Reception Venue we originally enquired about our local Masonic Hall. This would have cost us £125 for the whole day including one bar steward, due to our amount of guests we would need a second bar tender costing another £35 on top. They did not have their own catering & so we would have to use an outside catering company.
The Venue that we finally settled on however, was just down the road in the next village. We didn’t know it existed until it was suggested to us by another hotel. It is a beautiful riverside pub. The Ferry Boat Inn, situated in the hamlet of Holywell is the oldest Inn in England. We decided to pay the Inn a visit for Valentines 2014. We had a lovely meal & decided that we would like to view in daylight. We booked an appointment & a few days later we booked our new venue. The function room cost £65 to hire for the day, the one course meal was £7.95 per adult or £4.25 per child/small adults portion (40 guests including children).
The venue has only 7 ensuite bedrooms which were provisionally blocked booked out to us. We used five of the rooms in total. Two weeks after we booked & paid the deposit, my grandparents told us that the Ferry Boat Inn is the very same place that my great aunt Rene took them to for a meal for her anniversary the year before she died… we found this to be a sign that we were supposed to have booked this particular venue. So glad we did!

Bridal Outfit I already had my Dress; this was bought about 6 weeks before finding out that I was pregnant with our youngest son Superman. The Dress was part of Alfred Angelo’s Dream in Colour Selection of dresses & is absolutely stunning! I fell in love with my dress when I saw it in a magazine years before I met H2B. It was the first dress out of about 20 that I tried on, & I loved it so much that they let me try it on again. The lady in the shop then said "what would you do if I told you couldn't have this dress" well my eyes started welling up & I was speechless. Her & my mum then said "that’s The Dress". I was upset though as they wanted a 50% deposit but I didn’t have that kind of money lying around. The dress was "off the rack" but fit perfectly, no alterations needed, was as if it had been made to measure for me! I went home and promptly burst into tears. H2B asked why I was crying & I told him he will think I’m being stupid & blonde if I told him (I’m not a dress person). In the end he called them and asked if they would mind doing a payment plan for me. They did and a few weeks/months later I got to take the dress
I also bought myself an Alice Band to go with it along with my veil which I had custom made to match the exact colour of the back & train of my dress. This was bought from a wedding veil company in the uk for £28
My Shoes came next & I spent a good few weeks searching the internet trying to find something I liked… I finally found these at the £5 website
I actually forgot to put my garter on but this was bought for £1.67 on the Bay & I attached a Silver Sixpence to it. It was a 1947 sixpence which is the last year they were made with silver apparently.
I bought a cape from China on the Bay; this is black velvet with a red lining on the inside. It is really warm & cost £26.
Watch £1.98 brand new from the Bay.

The Favours / Gifts We had some Cancer Research Pin Badges arrive in the post & I also bought parchment paper for £4.25 & Aluminium Rings for £3.68. I made scrolls for the favours & kept them rolled up using the rings.
I made up some activity kits for the children, which went down a treat, they included a personalised activity book that I made myself, bubbles, funny face mask, chattering teeth, colouring pencils etc.
I made up some hampers for the guests staying in the hotel the night of the wedding to include apples, eye masks, ear plugs, toothbrush, toothpaste, fudge, chocolates, hangover water, slippers, flannels, shampoo, shower gel, Ritz crackers etc…. these were hugely appreciated by all those in receipt of one! We had many compliments about how it was a nice touch & how we really were trying to take care of our guests, not just for the time we spend with them but also during the times that they were not with us. For parents as a gift BEFORE the wedding we bought some photo books that we made up containing photos from when we were both babies right through our childhood, teen years, us having children & in our wedding outfits. These went down really well & put the parents in tears reminiscing about the old days. The gift my husband bought for me was a survival kit, a puzzle piece key ring & a perfume/soap set from my favourite perfume maker… Salvador Dali – Ruby Lips. The gift that I bought my husband included a watch that he would never buy for himself, a just married number plate personalised with our names & date, a key ring engraved with our wedding date, a condom tin – safety first, “so you don’t get cold feet” socks, “Don’ts for husbands” book, “sex tips for husbands & wives” book, miniature JD for his nerves, Haribo rings in case we forget the real ones, pack of Haribo star mix as a reminder of the food that brought us together, a pack of Mentos so he’s fresh for the kiss, a puzzle piece ring, toiletries & a lyric photo of us & our first dance song, all placed neatly into a bright side tin. The last surprise for my husband was his first gift from me as his WIFE! I managed to contact his idol, Mr John Cleland & he sent us a wedding card, I used my speech to present this card to him & made him cry!
The Stationery I found a gorgeous guestbook in our colour schemer with matching pen stand. I decided to make most of the stationery myself. I made the Wedding Invites, the Inserts, RSVP cards, Orders of the Day & Tissue pouches in case the female guests shed a few tears on the day. I ordered Evening Invites from Vista print & also some funny leaflets for the male guests explaining what the day is going to be like.
WIN_20150109_184126.JPG
all-stationery.jpeg
I also made the Table Plan, Table Name Cards, Place Cards, Centrepieces (Wine Glass Lamp Shades). The table name cards had a picture of a children’s character on one side & “fun facts” about that character on the other side. Each table name used a character that represented our little family. Bugs & Lola – our nicknames for each other. McQueen – our eldest nickname. Superman – Our youngest nickname. Animal – My Husbands favourite children’s character & forum nickname. Minions – our friends. Tow Mater – Our youngest favourite cars character.
Bridesmaids Outfits I wanted something that the Bridesmaids would wear again, so we went for black maxi dresses for £5.49 each. We used a hair clip from the land of pound & some red ribbon that matches my dress to make a belt for each of them & bought some blue shoes from the £5 site. We also got a couple of red boleros from the same website. I then bought them a small Alice band for their hair.
P1000628.JPG
Men’s Outfits We ideally wanted all the men in black suits but this did not go to plan. We bought two suits for our boys, both in black & ordered ties to go with them that match the red on my dress & the bridesmaid’s belts; we bought these from the Bay for £47.98 plus 99p for each tie. My Husbands suit was £21 from T3sc0 (Trousers £9, Jacket £12) this was also black. We bought him a black double cuff shirt from M055 Br0s for £25 & a tie from the Bay to match the other accessories for £1.79. The Groomsmen paid for their own suits, the Best Person, Steph, had a black suit, but everyone else had different coloured suits which was quite a big mash up really. We gave all Groomsmen red ties to match the rest of the accessories & colour scheme at £1.79 each. They all also had pocket hankies that match for 99p each from the Bay.
Decoration Cake Topper – I wanted something that was in no way traditional & was something that my Husband liked. He is very much into skulls, skeletons, very gothic items. I found this ornament from Nemesis now & fell in love with it… It’s a little of my husband incorporated into the wedding without going over the top.
Cake Topper.jpg
Goblets – I found these goblets on the Bay & thought that it might be nice to have some special ones for us; once again this was something I wanted to use to incorporate my husband’s personality into our day.
goblets.JPG
Centre Pieces – I wanted something simplistic & small so decided on wine glass lampshades.
Card Box – I decided to copy a design I found on the internet, I made it using lots of poster paint, 3 different sized boxes from hobby shop & some split pins. I made it to match the cake.
Transport Next comes the Transport. This is my Husbands domain & so I wanted something special for him. He is obsessed with Vauxhalls & is a member of an owners club & we all meet up a couple of times a year for days out, museum trips etc. Well we met a man called Nick on one of these meets & he owns an old Police Spec Cavalier. It took me a couple of days to try to find out how to contact him without letting my Husband know. Nick agreed to be our transport & only charged us £60 purely to cover the fuel he would use (he was coming from Kettering). I informed one of our witnesses, Charlie about the plan, who agreed to try convincing Dean that the real Police had turned up asking for him!
The Cake We were originally going to have a 3 tier cake made from ingredients that our eldest son could have as he is allergic to milk protein so cannot have anything such as butter cream filling/icing etc…. we were quoted £100 for this. However, I then won a competition through a forum called UKBRIDE. The prize included a 5 tier wedding cake, 150 cupcakes & a Candy buffet for 120! The prize was worth £1225! As our wedding colours were black & red, the cake itself was black & we had red ribbon matching the colour of my dress around each tier, secured with brooches. The cake was not made so that our eldest son could eat it so one of our Bridesmaids, Lovely Leesa, baked the children a cake covered in white icing & had the red ribbon round it secured with a brooch. During the cutting of the cake, we cut our cake & the children cut the cake made especially so our eldest can enjoy the cake too.
11082903_10152899536623402_414500804_n.jpg
We supplied the cupcake stands.
11072691_10152899536653402_315959186_n.jpg
We supplied the jars, tongs & scoops for the candy buffet. My Husband even made the stand for the jars & accessories. For the stand we used shop display boxes from a shop that was closing down, we painted them white & my husband made a couple of shelves to put lollies on too.
P1110761.JPG
Photography We wanted to have some decent photos to remind us of our day, but didn’t see the point in paying loads of money for a “professional”. The way we see it is a student will actually work harder to get the pictures perfect as they need the references. After much consideration we decided to contact Cambridge Regional College. We offered the student £30 to take photos from set up through to the Bride & her uncle dance (I don’t know my father so my Uncle did this with me). We offered the student a meal. We requested a disc of all images to be used & printed as we like. We stated that the student will be able to use the photos to build their portfolio & to be used in their final piece if they wish. We stated that upon receipt of all discs & images, we would provide them with a further £20 & a written reference for any future jobs. A 3rd year Student called Katherine came forward to accept this opportunity, when we met her we felt very comfortable, she was very professional & we were happy to book her!
Videography We wanted to have a video that we could send to family that were unable to make our wedding day & once again we did not see the point in spending a lot of money on this when a student would work harder than a “professional” due to needing the references. We once again chose to contact Cambridge Regional College offering a student £30 to film from set up through to brides dance with uncle. We offered to pay for a meal for them. We wanted the student to pay close attention to our unusual vows & our speeches. We stated we would like a short version, long version & the unedited copy. We stated that upon receipt of the finished film we would provide them with a further £30 & a written reference for any future jobs. A 3rd year Student called Sabrine came forward to accept this opportunity & when we met her, we were felt very comfortable with her & were glad to be booking her.
Flowers My Bouquet – This was made to my specifications. I had lots of red roses & a single blue rose in the centre as a way to have my great aunt Rene who died when I was a child, incorporated into our day. She always used to say to me “always remember seven yellow roses” & I always replied “and one blue one”. The bouquet was round with a few brooches on. It was absolutely gorgeous!
10559190_10205303423410260_1516764481_n.jpg
Bridesmaids Bouquets – These were simple, six ivory roses with a single red rose in the centre of each. £16.90
$_57.JPG
Buttonholes – These were made by the same lady that made my bouquet. They were red roses. My husband had a double red rose.
Entertainment We were originally going to use the venues in house DJ but they decided to ignore our emails & calls & so we chose to use a different DJ. The DJ played music in the background during the meal. He played a song specifically to kick start the speeches as required (Pink – Raise your glass) & did a fantastic job during the evening. Our children also wanted a photo booth so we had fun creating masks, moustaches, lips, signs etc., & buying items such as hats & wigs, blow up microphones, air guitars etc.
The Rings We searched about 4 counties looking for rings that my husband liked. In the end we had them made to my husband’s design. We had these made by a company similar to the kissing company but it wasnt the kissing company, they cost us £1036.98 but they are one off. Specifically made for us, they are 9ct white gold with 9ct yellow gold square with a diamond in the centre of the yellow gold square.

The Day We woke up on the morning of the wedding, it was lovely, the kids had screamed me awake, but that was nothing new. I woke my husband to be up nicely & we got ready to go out. We waited longer than we should have for our best person & her wife to arrive. We went out for breakfast & bought the safety pins that we needed. We had a lovely breakfast at our local café. It was a fry up. By the time we got back home we were running two hours behind schedule due to waiting for our best person to arrive.
Whilst my husband to be was changing the wheels over on our car due to us having a flat tyre & me needing to use the car I was making the buffet food for those with food allergies, our best persons wife helped with this. Lovely Leesa was pinning the buttonholes to the men’s suits. When I was ready to leave having got the stuff needed to take to the venue such as our overnight bag, makeup, bridesmaids outfits etc. my husband & our friend were wiping the car down making it all shiny, I ended up driving off whilst they were still wiping it down. We collected my dress from my grandparents’ house on the way to the venue. My driving was extremely erratic & it wasn’t until we got all the way to the hamlet our venue is situated in that I realised that my husband to be hadn’t put the “L” plates on the car so I had driven all the way there illegally!
By the time we got to the venue we had 45minutes to get myself & my bridesmaids ready! Lovely Leesa & I had a quick toast using two large glasses of wine from the bar that we took up to the room to get ready with. I ended up drinking Lovely Leesa’s wine as well as my own glass. The photographer & videographer were already at the venue & had taken time to capture the setup of the room & greeted the cake lady too. They came up to the room to capture my dress then had to shoot off to capture my husband to be’s reaction to his surprise transport. I did not have time to straighten my hair, I barely had time to get in my dress & do my makeup before my transport arrived.
The transport was an old Police Spec Cavalier; the driver/owner was a man we met on an owners club meet. My husband paid a lot of attention to this car each time we met them. Our children also loved the car & so I thought it would be a nice surprise for my husband to be. It turns out that Nick, the transport guy, nearly forgot to collect me! But he came back for me & we got to the venue just in time! I don’t know how, but somehow we managed to catch up!
Now it is my husband that is scared of being the centre of attention, it is him who hates standing in front of people let alone speaking in front of them, and yet it was me who was most nervous! My husband’s witness did his job perfectly! Whilst they were waiting for me to arrive they nipped down the local pub for a pint & a game of pool! I was very nervous & when saying my vows when I had to say my name (my first name is double barrelled, so is my middle name, now my surname is too) I took a deep breath & rushed through my name to get it out of the way, I was shaking like crazy during our ceremony. Due to my ring not fitting we very nearly had to use Haribo rings for the ring exchange, however luckily, a cheap ring I ordered on the Bay arrived in the post on the morning of our wedding! So this ring was used for the ring exchange.
We had our own very personal vows & got to say these at the end of the ceremony just before being announced as Mr & Mrs Killgallon-Tilley. Our personal vows got some good chuckles but I don’t think my mother in law liked the idea of us double barrelling our names rather than me taking their name. When they asked if anyone had anything to say the whole “speak now or forever hold your piece” part… we all turned to look at my granddad! That gave a good laugh as well!
The one thing I was worried about in the lead up to the wedding was me blacking out…. After the ceremony we had a few photos with the transport then as we were doing the rounds to inform people that we were heading to the venue, my back gave out & it seemed to take a good few minutes to hit the floor…. I didn’t black out all day but did land on my bottom due to my back!

As soon as we got to the venue my new husband took my shoes off before I got out of the car. We had some photos with family & also some photos with Nick who dressed up as a police officer for the occasion. My husband & I took a trip up to the bridal suite to tighten my dress & get my converse on.
We all sat down ready for the meal where there was a reading given to start & during this time the deed poll was signed for my new husband to legally double barrel his name. The meal was ok, not as good as it was when we first tried it, but they didn’t skimp on the meat, but there was definitely less on the plate than there was during the tasting. Overall much as it wasn’t as good as before, no one had an issue with it. After the meal the DJ put the song on that we requested to kick start the speeches (pink – raise your glass). A family member of mine did the father of the bride speech as I don’t know my father…. This was lovely, it was all about how when I was little I asked why my friends weren’t allowed to splash in puddles & yet I was. At the time I was told that it’s because their parents didn’t know what towels were for. By the time I got older I never asked again, but if I had the answer would have been that splashing in puddles & dancing in puddles is the closest you can get to dancing with the stars due to the reflection in the puddle water… it ended with my husband being told to always find the biggest puddle & go splashing in them with me because I deserve to dance with the stars. The speech came along with a framed picture created by my children & lovely Leesa.
Then it was my turn, I thanked everyone for coming, I gave out gifts to the wedding party & I informed all of our guests regarding the hard times we went through a couple of years previously, about how we had something happen in my family that tore us apart, how my husband saved the lives of two of my family members & how not being allowed to talk about it put a lot of pressure on us & we realised that fighting to keep our family safe was not enough. How we were forced by the few friends that knew about the hard times we were going through to take time for ourselves, to make sure there was a relationship left to fight for & how having gone through all of that we have come to realise that you should never underestimate the power of a relationship break down & how we have come through it all much stronger than we were before. I finished my speech by presenting a wedding card to my new husband from his idol, Mr John Cleland. This made my husband cry! He loves it so much that he has now framed it & hung it on our living room wall! He kept asking how I managed to contact Mr Cleland!
Then came the turn of my husband, he thanked everyone again for coming & raised a toast to lost friends and family. He talked about how our best person has a secret obsession on a night out, involving inspecting drains with her face at very close quarters. He told me how beautiful I was & how I had made him the happiest man alive.
Then it was the turn of our best person Steph. She made a few jokes about them growing up & getting drunk, the usual sort of stuff.
Whilst Steph was doing her speech, our youngest son, 5 years old, decided he too wanted to make a speech; he stood up on his chair & spoke straight into the microphone stating that he likes weddings because he likes them & thanked everyone! It was so cute & so unexpected! He then handed the microphone back to Steph who asked everyone to make their way through to the main bar area so that the room can be turned around for the evening reception.

My husband had forgotten to give his parents a gift before the wedding, it was a photo book. During the 30 minute gap between the speeches & the start of the Evening Reception my husband’s witness returned to our home to collect the photobook gift for my in laws & we presented them with it as soon as he returned. They were over the moon with it, reminiscing about my husband growing up from a small child through to trying his suit on before the wedding.
We also used the time between the speeches & Evening Reception to get some photos of the two of us, I was wearing my cape at this point for the photos outside our venue of the two of us, I switched the ring over to my actual wedding ring in order to get close ups of the rings. Then promptly switched back before my finger went purple. I managed to steal my husband away for a few minutes a few times during the evening; we just went for a short walk a couple of times to get away from it all.
We cut the cake but didn’t actually have it sliced as there were just so many cupcakes everyone was quite happily tucking into them. We also had our sons cut a cake suitable for our eldest to eat (milk free). It was their day too, not just ours so it was only right that they got to cut a cake too!
The first dance was rather awkward, my husband doesn’t dance & has spent the last eight years promising me one singular dance… well folks…. That was it! We moved round in circles until I told my husband that I was getting dizzy at which point we carried on going round in circle, only we changed direction! The first dance was to our song… Aerosmith – don’t wanna miss a thing. It was followed by a dance with my uncle instead of a bride & her father dance. This was to Rascal Flatts – My Wish. My uncle Matthew agreed that it was a perfect choice! My Uncle Matt doesn’t like being centre of attention either & so I requested that everyone join in half way through, which they did.
At one point during the evening there was a song Rascal Flatts – Bless the Broken Road, I made a deal with a family member, this deal was that they do the father of the bride speech, but that I must sing during the wedding… so when this song came on, I got them on the dance floor & I sang to them whilst they dance with their plus one guest. I put them both in tears… not due to the sound of my voice I might add. They both loved it!
Towards the end of the Evening our “Best Person” Steph had had a bit too much of my home brewed wine…. Her wife Claire went to take a glass of wine off of Steph who in turn snatched her hand away…. Queue my dress getting covered in wine!
I have heard nothing but good things about the Evening Buffet but unfortunately I only managed a couple of sandwiches, breaded mushrooms & couple of pieces of chicken throughout the entire evening. So many people were talking to us; I simply didn’t have time to eat. I even went up to my husband, grabbed him by the front of his shirt, and shook him a bit whilst pleading with him to go get me a drink because every time I try I get stopped by someone again!
At the end of the night we had requested that the last song be Halestorm- Here’s to us. It is a toast to us! It was a perfect choice of song to end the night!
We headed up to the bridal suite where my husband helped me out of my dress & I jumped into the shower quickly. The bones in my dress managed to bruise me just under my left boob & my feet where killing me. Once out of the shower my husband & I had a good read through the guest book & all of the cards. We did pretty well out of monetary gifts. We received £75 before the wedding from guests unable to attend. There was a further £480 received on the day, totalling £555 to go towards our honeymoon!

My only regret of the day was waiting for our “best Person” to arrive; this is not because of anything negative against her, simply because waiting for her put us two hours behind schedule meaning that we didn’t have the time we needed to get ready. My husband agrees that we should have just gone to breakfast without her & her wife & have them meet us there. This too was his one regret; he wanted to polish the car but simply didn’t have time after breakfast.
The part of the day that my husband most enjoyed was the end of the night when we were looking through the guestbook & cards, as this then led to consummating the marriage! Much as I very much enjoyed this part too…. I loved the moments when I gave my husband his first married gift from me, his card from John Cleland, this is the point where he cried, he thanked me for everything I had done, thanked me for remembering who his idol was & finding a way to contact him & manage to get hold of something so unique & personal that there will never be another one like it, just the expression on his face… he didn’t have the words… I not only made him cry but I made him speechless…. He is so very proud of this gift that he has framed it & placed it on our wall for all to see!
It is now Wednesday 1st April 2015, exactly one week after we got married! We still have loads of cake, more than a tray left of cupcakes, I have frozen two tiers of wedding cake, sent family home with a 3rd tier, have sliced one tier & still have another uncut! We have LOADS of sweets left over from the Candy Buffet, some still in sealed packets! We have been out for our first married date night, have had movie nights in eating the candy buffet. We are already planning our next date night to go to watch Furious 7. We have been giving plenty of cake away. We took 70 bags of sweets to our children’s school for them to hand out to their class mates; each bag had one of each sweet in it. We have changed our names at the bank, child benefit office, car insurance, truck insurance, a few bills, and a few other insurances. We have had a house inspection & bribed them with cake to say that the house is in a reasonable state considering we just got married & all wedding items were just dumped in our living spaces. Our washing machine broke so we can’t do any washing until it’s fixed. We also received our first post in our married names today! We have also put my ring in to be resized & it should be ready on the 16th April!
I can’t wait to see our professional photos & wedding video…. We have been sent a short version of the video already but I really can’t wait to see the full version!

thank you flossie! all in all it was much better than we expected, the amount of people that said to us its the first wedding they had been to where there wasnt a punch up, the first family gathering on my husbands side where we were not ignored the entire time.. it could have gone so much worse than it did, i got so many compliments regarding my planning & how i did an amazing job! it truely was amazing.... although my husband has stated "now just watch how quickly my brother gets married" meaning his brother, my brother in law... they are not even engaged yet but always do seem to try to upstage us somehow.... although... i really wont be bothered too much as there is no way they will be able to out do our amazing day... it was simply perfect for us.... it doesnt matter if our guests didnt like bits of it... it was simply perfect for us & thats what matters!

Sounds like you had a fantastic day :)
and you are right, your day is about you and it sounds like your guests enjoyed it, so if there were little bits that weren't quite them it doesn't matter as it wasn't their day anyway it was yours. If his brother does rush to get married it won't change what an amazing day you had.

We got the photo's today! for some reason the site has put the first & second column sideways again but here you go..... I just love the way my dress flowed as I moved & I included one of our youngest who decided during the speeches, that he too wanted to do a speech.

I am signing in to see if I stated when the photo album for parents arrived... so i know how long it is likely to take my wedding photo album will take to get here. In the meantime I have discovered a way to get stills from the video so here is a couple of photos of my husband when I gave him his card from John Cleland...
