I can't decide if to have a veil or not..... I see so many pictures of ladies and they look lovely and I just wouldn't know how to choose one. I tried one on with my dress and it looked awful but weather that was because I was dress shopping and too in love with the dress at the time I don't know...... I'm having my hair half up half down in curls!
How do you chose the right veil??
Here is me in the dress so if possible you could make any suggestions I would appreciate it

Lovely dress.
Did you have a long one or a short one?? I'm thinking a short one would look better if you went for one, but honestly, lots don't have one now so if you don't want one then go without and have a nice headpiece instead.

Try on lots of different lengths of veils. It might be that the one you tried just didn't work with the dress. But as Glitterfairy says, a headpiece could look lovely instead. X

Thank you.
It was just past my shoulders I think and to be honest, she did just plonk it on my head to get a look......
Initially, I really didn't want a veil but now I think I do. It's just knowing what to have and how I choose. Am I allowed to take my dress to bridal shops to try them on or should I return only to where I got my dress from and do it there? I don't know the procedure?

I cannot see why you cannot take your dress elswhere to try on veils in order to get the right one.

Yeah I agree, I think you should have one as it sounds like you really want one. Just try lots of different one's on.

I found the shops kept putting them really high on my head which j didn't like. But then I found one which framed my face and shoulders really nicely with tiny crystal drops on the edge, it definitely finishes off the look :)

Oh yes, I do love a veil. I had barrell curls, and my veil at the base of my neck
CommentAuthorEmmilou82
MrsK2b I think that's what they did with me and it just looked awkward..... Maybe later in the year when we have some money, I'll go back to the shop with my sister (MOH) and try them. I will get her to do my hair kind of how I'd like it and then go from there. Thanks for your input ladies, it helps so much when I can't talk to anyone else about it xx

I'm having half up, half down with curls too :o)
I was adamant I didn't want a veil to start with, but I was actually convinced when I tried one in the second dress shop I went to. A tiara just isn't me. I'm having a veil from the shop that I'm getting my dress from. It has a little bit of bling on it so it goes nicely with the half and half style I've chosen.
At the end of the day you should do what makes you feel comfortable, but I agree that you should be able to take your dress to a different shop to try with a veil.
Both dress and veil are lovely by the way :o)

I tried on both veil and tiara in mutiple shops and different ways and they just dont suit me at all. It also doesnt help that because of my eczema my skin is very touch sensitive to anything "tickling" (gosh that sounds off eh?) so I instantly didn't like the feeling of a veil tickling my shoulders and back. A tiara just makes me look weird. My plan is to have my hair come over my left shoulder and found a really nice hair piece which will sit on a braid coming from the right side to the left at the back.
I did find some shop assistants tried to push the veil on me so I usually just gave in to prove... I don't like it.
Glad you found what you want :D

Hi, I cant decide either. I have been looking at standard veils but I'm just not 'feeling it' so many are too fussy plus I hate tiaras when they are attached to veils.
My theme is quite vintage and I've seen online 'bird cage veils' and think they are quite cute;
however not sure if I will feel like a bride wearing one!!! think i need to keep looking! aah! suck a silly little thing can be so stressy!
CommentAuthorElinor Claire
You won't really know what looks right until you try some. Once you have chosen your dress, you need to try a large selection of veils with it to see what looks nice. You don't have to have one at all, but it's well worth considering. I know for me it just nicely finished off the look and made me really feel like a bride.

Firstly that is a stunning dress, you look so happy!!! I had my hair the same way and just had a veil and nothing else. My veil was cathedral length with just some details at the bottom, that way you can still see all the details of the dress. You can always take the veil off after the ceremony/photos etc Hope you find your dream veil etc Xx

Emmilou82 I love your dress it looks stunning. I think that you look beautiful without a veil, but it also sounds like you would like one. I also agree with glitterfairy try on veils at other shops if you can and show them a picture of the one you have seen so that they can see which one you would like to try on. They might have one in the shop for you or one similar that you might like :).
CommentAuthorGemmaB596
I agree with the above comments, you just need to try loads of different ones. At first I said I'd never have a veil, then when I went shopping for my wedding dress, I was convinced to try on a couple (the length that came down to the middle of my back) and still didn't like them. In another shop, I saw a beautiful beaded veil which was floor length which made me well up! In the end I opted for a cathedral length veil which I loved just as much as the dress, maybe even more!

I think a veil either suits you or it doesn't. I was so glad it suited me as I really wanted one lol. I didn't even try short ones just knew I wanted a long one. Went for one with tiers on it and diamontes scattered throughout. I tried lace edge ones too but it was just too much with my dress

Is your dress lace Danielle?
Mines Lacey and I was thinking double tier lace edge but I've not tried any yet as its too soon .. I need something to satisfy my planning needs closer to the wedding!
The diamonte ones are very pretty too.. I wanted a really long one to make up for the train on my dress not being quite as long as I'd have liked but mum says it'll hide all the detail of my dress as it has a lot of gem detail flowing down the back ... I'm taking my bridesmaids to get their dresses next Saturday and I would have tried some then to give me an idea but messing on when my back isn't improving doesn't sound like a great idea to me so I'll just have to be patient - the bridal shop says I don't need to do anything until 8 weeks before the wedding!?! It makes me sad that I have so long to wait
CommentAuthorCarolH81
I got a diamonte one with pink edging, just love it and it goes so well with the dress, didn't think I wanted one at first until I saw this one! x

You look so lovely! :)
I think a veil would look very nice with your dress, but I do love a veil. My thinking tends to be when else are you going to get to wear one really? Same thing with a white gown. I hadn't ever really wanted a white dress but when else would you get to wear one?
But, the first veil I tried on I was like "Nah, this is not nice." because it didn't go with the dress, it wasn't pretty to me, it had these horrible really fake looking plasticy things dangling off it all over the edging, it felt a bit cheap and I just said no I don't like it (£100+ as well!!!) but the second one, full on cathedral length, was gorgeous. Fell in love immediately. Picked it up today and was wandering round my mum's with it on I love it so much.
I think doing your hair how you would like it on the day and trying on a few in different shops is a good idea :) xx

The thing with a view is you don't neseceraly have to wear it over your face. You also need to look at your chosen hair style and think would it go also. If you look on g0ogl £ and type wedding hair with veil it can give u some ideas x
