It's a long way until my wedding, but I set myself a weight target before I would go dress shopping. I lost 22lb to get to my initial target weight and went and tried on some dresses for some ideas of what suited me the most. My sister ended up so disappointed when she went with a style in mind that didn't suit her at all, so I went with an open mind knowing I have plenty of time.

I found all the dresses flattering and liked every thing I tried! I have two favourites, but neither is "the one", so I am making another appointment after a couple of months of going back to the photos and reflecting.

Can I ask people to have a look in my photo albums at dresses and give their honest opinions of which parts of the dresses are most suited to my body shape so I can keep this info in mind at my next appointment. I am curious as to whether others have the same thoughts as me or whether something else is the more popular choice among my fellow ukbrides!

    Thanks in advance

I think the sweetheart neckline A-line dresses suit you the most :) they elongate your body. You have a lovely figure! :)

Hi! First of all congratulations on managing to lose weight; I keep saying I am going to lose some before the wedding, but so far it keeps creeping up as I am a bit of a stress eater!
I agree about going in with an open mind; I picked my dress on Saturday and it is everything I initially said I did not want in a dress! Is there a particular part of your body/a best feature which you would like to draw attention to on your big day?
My favourite of the dresses you posted up was #8 (pic 19/20). I really like how it shows off your waist and it makes you look really tall and elegant. I also love the detail and sparkle on top whilst keeping the skirt simple, so it doesn't look over the top. Similarly, I liked #3 (pic 12/20) on you as well. Personally I prefer that style on you over the ones with extra layers and details around the waist line, but I am no Gok Wan, so it is probably more to do with my own personal taste than anything else! At the end of the day you will look best in whatever you feel comfortable wearing, so just keep trying lots of different styles until one clicks. I had tried dresses with straps, dresses with fishtails, dresses with lace and they didn't suit me at all so I said that I definitely did not want to go for one like that... in the end I grabbed a dress off the rail to try on as an extra whilst I was being ushered into the changing room so I didn't see the fishtail or lace until I put it on... and it was perfect so, whilst it's good to have an idea of what you do or do not want, try not to limit yourself too much as you may be surprised!

Hello I love dresses 6 and 8. Well done for losing weight you look fantastic. I would say that you might want to try a more fitted style like a lacy fish tail with a beaded belt. Only to try in something completely different as you are nice and tall and slim and it might just work on you. Xx

1, 5, 8, 12 are my favourites on you! Admittedly I don't love the actual design of number 12, but the shape and style is lovely. X

    Thank you ladies :-)

I was leaning toward 10 and 12. I love the sweetheart neckline, I love the fitted, low waist, but wasn't sure if I prefered the fish tail style or a mahoosive, almost gypsy style skirt. Have lately seen lacey fitted dresses that I think are so classic, flattering and beautiful.

I shall definitely keep an open mind though, I intend to try every style in as many different shops as poss before I choose a style and start thinking about the finer details. I definitely want some bling, but maybe less is more and can purely be in accessories. So much to consider, glad I have made an early start!

I'm jealous of your early start, I've yet to try on dresses! Hoping to book the venue next week and then I can start trying on dresses!
I do love a lace mermaid dress with a diamonte belt. I love a little bit of sparkle! I have no idea if I'm going to end up with a big ball gown style or a mermaid style, I think ball gown but depends on the venue too I'm guessing! So many pretty dresses......!

I've no idea what the numbers were of the ones I liked on you but deffo the more slim a line ones shows of your figure more. You don't need all the extra layers as you've got nothing to 'cover up' so to soeak so show off your slim figure. I was surprised when I tried my dresses on the the ones I thought would be flattering, the bigger dresses actually made me look wider than the more slim fit ones cos they are fitted in just the right place then fall away.

I'd say number 8 and number 3 really suit you. I wouldn't go for the more mermaid style ones myself if I had your figure, as they stick out round the hips and then come back in, but that could be more personal taste.

Personally I think a dress with a sweetheart neckline which clinches in at your waist and then flares out is going to look best on you as it will make your waist look tiny. I also agree with Elinor on the mermaid style, I think it makes you look bigger than you are and draws a lot of attention to your hips. But at the end of the day only you know what kind of dress you feel the best in Hun, everyone has different opinions and tastes so go for whatever makes you feel amazing xxx

Definitely things to consider. I thought the mermaid style coming out at the hips extenuated the smaller waist.

So glad I asked, so I could consider these thing.

    Thanks ladies.

Personally I think the first two dresses really suit you with the slightly dropped waist. Look stunning. I love the first one with the halter added as well.
