My attitude towards themes is that the theme of your wedding should just be "wedding". :P But I suppose I have a colour theme, as my bridesmaids will all wear the same colour and their flowers match.

No, you don't have to have a theme! And if you do have a theme, you can have as little or as much of it as you want :)

Like for example there are a couple of girls on here who are going with butterflies - you can just have a couple on your cake, and butterfly shaped place name settings. Or you can go all out and have butterfly releases and all sorts!

    It's entirely up to you.

I'll also say that NO-ONE in the HISTORY of EVERYTHING has gone to wedding and said "But... what's the theme?"

I'm only having blue as a colour theme, and going with our personalities in order to make the day unique, there's little quirky things throughout.

Colour is Tiffany blue/Aqua with silver and my theme is childhood memories. Little touches are designed to make you giggle, favors are retro sweets. We're having games on the lawn connect four, jenga, space hoppers etc. The biggest thing for us is we're walking out of church to the theme tune from star wars! I have many a good christmases watching them films again and again xx

Is fun and funky a theme? If so we have a theme.

If not our colurs are bright yellow and deep purple, with bits of ivory.

We kind of have a theme as my dress is grecian style so I've adopted that with gold and ivory - but not to a crazy level!! just hair/flowers and cake. its fun with a loose theme in mind as you can google ideas easier but can imagine it would be v expensive not to mention stressful to have the theme running all the way through. Also agree as above - no-one sits there thinking 'is there a theme here?' they will just be having fun!

tea party/alice in wonderland theme for me. Eat me and drink me labels, white rabbits and top hats! Tea pot centre pieces, all a bit silly really but I like it! My fiance is of the opinion that weddings should be wedding themed but he's not a clue about design and he'll appreciate it all looking nice and matched and fun on the day. The design is down to me really but I don't think it's essential to have a theme, colours tie a wedding together really well without the faff of a running theme

awww thanks hun! It'll be a bit mismatched but personal I think. Just got one of my teapots delivered the other day. i found it on e bay it's amazing! loving hunting out little vintage pieces it's fun! got loads of tea cups and saucers from charity shops and they'll have tea lights in them, struggling a little with vintage cake stands but there's plenty of time yet!

I love your theme, Juicy Lucy. I initially didn't want a theme but it has kind of ended up being Medieval as we are having our reception in an 11th century barn. We thought decorating it all modern with fairy lights etc would look a bit mis-matched. I don't think a theme is needed, but sometimes I think it helps with decisions (like decorations, table layout, colours etc). Your weddings day is about your and your mr, so do what you two want , not what you 'should' or 'shouldn't' do!
