about a year ago i met the people i really wanted to dress my venue. they were lovely. loved my theme and very well organised but since then its went down hill they changed there name and didnt tell me so i had to hunt them down al over again i eventaully tracked them down at a wedding fair about 4 weeks ago and asked for a quote as i know roughtly what i needed you know ive still not heard from them!

im not trusting my big day on someone who cant send an email!!!

ive just emailed another company i found while hunting the other one down n they seem a much better fit tbh glad i found out now there flaky n not on my wedding day!!

That's good that you found someone you feel you can trust. Our venue does all the decoration for us and I'm a bit 50/50 about the amount of effort that will be put into doing it so my MOH will be going down on the day to 'help' lol x

Id feel much happier with someone else doing it if the first company cant get their act together and run a business properly x

Sounds like you dodged a bullet there! If they can't even keep in contact with someone who's really keen for their services then sounds like they don't even care and you don't need that stress on your wedding day!

Sorry for being picky but I think the title of your thread is supposed to be "Their loss" I only bring it up cause I wasn't sure what this thread was about at first.

I have the same attitude, I think suppliers that don't email their customers back within a decent timescale should be binned off. They need to be as passionate about making your day as you are. I've done it to a few suppliers and found better ones by doing so. Good luck with your replacement company :)

Good job you found someone else now I'd say, if they are like that now who knows what they'd be like later.
And with the vision you have for your day you'd think people would be jumping to be involved in something so creative.

Well done on finding someone else, and like you say it's the other company's loss. My venue dressed the tables for us, but I did not want anything massive done, the room was crowded with the amount of people we had so if I had lots of stuff on the tables it would have looked silly.

I'm glad you found out early enough that they weren't right for you, rather than have some big problem develop later on down the line. I hope your new company are much better.

I'm the same, I discounted several suppliers on the basis that they either weren't getting back to me or sounded like THEY were doing me a favour by letting me hire them, if you know what I mean.

This happened with a few photogs, and now I'm getting emails back months later from these same suppliers being all nicey nicey.

I'm sorry, but I'd I was running a business, I'd expect a response within a couple of days max. If they are particularly busy, they should send a personal (ie not system generated) email with a date when they could have a quote to you by.

I think it's really important to feel comfortable and have a rapport with your suppliers. After all, in a lot of cases you are spending a lot of money for their services and you want to make sure they understand exactly what you want for your big day

    Xx

I'd thought they'd jump at the chance...after all, it looks good on the portfolio and is valuable experience for them.

Plus if I was a venue dresser, it would be nice to do something other than the usual Weddingy stuff.

Where you having a Halloween themed wedding button-bell?

Hey, after Wednesday you'd be able to pick up loads of bits!

I know how bad this is going to sound but I have found that a lot of decoration companies I have been in touch with have asked me to get in touch when there is a year to go as I am asking too far in advance, so this may be the same with the companies you have been in touch with. They will still have a lot of weddings going on right now and in their eyes a wedding that is 2 years away can wait for a reply. I know it is no excuse but it seems to be how most of them work! xxx

I only ever book people who seem interested in my ideas and wedding. I have found far too many people in the wedding industry treat you like they are doing you a favour as opposed to you doing them a favour by giving them your business (and being treated to a ridiculous mark up when the W word is added!) I'd go with your gut and if they don't respond, go somewhere else..... x
