How about lines/quotes from your favourite songs/plays/movies.

You could get some really lovely romantic lines that way xx

I love the romantic lines/lyrics idea. How original to name a table with a sentence! Will get everyone in a romantic mood as well.

I like so much I'm tempted to steal! Lol

I know it's a little off point but you could always have numbers that are imporant to you for example 22 08 10 -three different tables dor the date you got together...

I had a list of famous couples somewhere as was considering this myself.

    Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers

Then I kinda went silly and started adding things like

    Dick and Dom
    Tom and Jerry
    French and Saunders
Ant and Dec etc etc etc!!

    Never had it though! LOL

Just watch what famous couples you use as Bonnie and Clyde were insane sadistic murderers and Marilyn Monroe and Joe Dimagio got divorced and she slept around a lot, having affairs with all sorts of men. Sorry but as romantic as Joe was, Marilyn obviously did not feel the same and you are getting married, not divorced.

Oh and Fred Astaire and ginger rogers were never in a relationship as far as I'm aware.

What about going for some Scottish poets and their wives or lovers and under the names you could have a quote from that particular poets most famous poem, or just a line from a poem of his or hers that you like?

They don't actually have to be in a relationship though, just coupled as in work type related.

love this idea! and you could follow it through to putting props on the table to go with the couples names-romeo and juliet you could have a book of the play and some masqurade masks on the table :-)

im doing a map of britain for our table plan with places that we have been together to be used as our table names eg wembley stadium, brunton park (carlisle united fan), jamies italian.

Me and H2B are having 'I Love You' in different languages. The top table obviously being the I Love You one then nice sounding versions from other languages x x

If using couples they would have to be in a relationship as its a love theme. Fred and ginger were dance partners but didnt carry the professional relationship any further. If the essence of something is love then stick to couples either real or fictitious who were in love. I know not many people will pick up on that but its something that I would notice.
Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy is a really good one and they did get married in the end :-)

Ok these two aren't Scottish either but how about Lady Mary and Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey?
