    Hi ladies

I am getting married in Oct 2015, which I am very excited about. However, I'm really struggling to find a wedding dress I actually like!

Let me start by saying I am a second time bride, so I feel this may be affecting my decision making. I got married quite young first time round, had a big princess style strapless chiffon dress by Maggie Sottero. Loved it and everyone complimented on the dress but I was a lot skinnier and younger back then! Also looking back on the photos I dont think it suited me, the dress drowned me (I am quite petite) and I decided therefore to go for something different this time. So I am after something slim fitted with straps/a neck.

I know Ive got plenty of time but I wanted to start looking and have visited 3 shops so far, trying on about 20 dresses altogether over the last few months. I just can't find anything I like ENOUGH to think yes, this is the one. I quickly realised that slim fitted dresses suited my figure better than the big princess ones, as I am very pear shape.

I found a gorgeous Mori Lee 1901 which was amazing but the back is too low and I feel self conscious, so that's off the list.

I just don't know if this notion of "the one" even exists and if I'm being too picky??! I just don't know whether I should settle for something or carry on looking, or if I'm searching too early and need to leave it until next year?? I just feel so confused about it all.

Part of me feels like I am having to prove myself by my choice of dress, since I've been married before. That probably makes no sense to people unless you are also a second time bride?!

All I can say is I'm glad I started looking early as if I'd left it til next year I would be proper panicking now.

I love the mori lee one, I really like the bow at the back, could you not have the seamstress make the back higher or add some lace to the back?

I personally would not settle, I'd say keep looking, don't panic... when it gets to early next year if you still haven't found one then maybe re-evaluate what your looking for.

I don't think your being too fussy, you need to feel comfortable and happy on the day

What I did is I found something similar like you have to what you want, then either have alook around online for something similar which has the changes your after, I originaly wanted lacey and princessy, but after trying some one realise they looked terrible and did not suit me at all, then I tryed a Satin number on loved the rouged fitted around middle and material, but wanted straps and was straight across and made me look more bobby, so went more shops with this in mind and eventually found my gorgeous fitted satin dress with nice V neck and thick gorgeous straps just what I wanted. Keep on looking, you will find it.x

i think you should have a break from looking for a little while if i'm honest...they say you should order your dress 9 months before the wedding so maybe give yourself some time sorting out other stuff then maybe start looking in magazines and see if you see anything that catches your eye...? then start shopping again in a few months...i ordered my dress in September last year (I don't get married until May 2015) because we are out of the country travelling so I didn't have a choice. If i HAD a choice I would definitely have waited until later, getting it so early just gives you more time to stress out about it, especially if you are having worries about it comparing to your first wedding. i keep having moments where i don't even like it anymore and I can't even go and see it cos i am so far away! just give yourself some time - you have plenty :) and definitely don't settle! good luck! xx

If the only thing stopping you from getting the Mori Lee dress is the low back is there not something that can be done to alter it? Maybe get it altered to be higher or even think of wearing some kind of balero, which may not be a bad thing if your having an autum wedding :)
Don't stress as you will find a dress and have that "this is it!" moment :)

    That's gorgeous HB :)

Umm how about adding shawl or bolero (if that is what they are called) so if you had a low back; no one would see anyway :)

Thanks for all the replies, I have decided to leave looking until later this year (maybe Oct/Nov) and then I'll be 12 months away.... think maybe I've been "over thinking" things which has stressed me out even more!! Hopefully by then I'll have lost some weight/toned up as I think that's what part of the problem is - I feel self conscious about my shape.

HB that's a gorgeous dress and one which one of the shops I went to have, so I will be able to try it on later in the year :)

If you're petite have you considered a short slim fitted dress? Something like this from C0@5t?
