I am getting married on 16th May, and think I will need to lose another stone for my dress to fit me comfortably (I can get it on and zipped up but it doesn't sit right across the back / bum) the dress will definitely need altering around the bust and will need taking up slightly, what is the latest I can leave it before going for alterations? I know I'm cutting it fine, I was hoping to work my butt off (literally) in the gym for the whole of March, and then get it altered, would this work?
Thanks

I'm not too great on weight loss, going the gym will help to tone you up but I'm not sure if you could lose a stone that quick and it be safe or healthy. X

My OH is a proper fitness freak Work your butt off in the gym mainly cardio Don't eat ANY choccy or crisps or anything like that My OH has flumps as a treat as they have no fat in them Eat healthy and check with the seamstress when the latest you can get it done is, you could always book in now for 2 weeks before your wedding x

Depending on how much you weigh I agree with Ana a stone is a lot of weigh to lose in a month. You need to ask a seamstress what they suggest, it depends on how time consuming the alterations will be and how busy they are.

I'm so frustrated at myself, I have lost about a stone and a half already and completely changed my shape, but its just my huge bum holding me back ha ha, I'm going to try and ring around a few places this afternoon to ask to book in a rushed job mid April time, fingers crossed.
maybe give slimming world a try? It may be possible to lose about 8-10lbs maybe more in about a month and then tone up at the gym?

I would say that 2lbs a week weight-loss is realistic and sustainable, depending on how much you weigh (the more you weigh, usually the easier it is to lose). 14 lbs in a month is probably not realistic.
I would suggest setting a sensible target, esp as you need to maintain it up until the wedding (ie there's no point in losing a stone on a quick-fix diet and putting it back on; you need to keep it off). Use a calorie counting app (there's a thread on one that I use) and set a target of 1500 calories a day, which is easy to stick to, and will give you steady weight-loss. Also work on toning any problem areas, as while it won't help you lose weight, it WILL shave inches off your measurements, which is the key thing.
Also, speak to whoever is doing your alterations and find out from them when the latest is that they can be done. If you can get yourself an extra week, that could be an extra 2lbs to play with.
Finally, don't beat yourself up if you don't get where you want to be. It may just be your shape and bone structure, in which case there isn't much you can do. In my case, I have lost nearly 2 stone, going from 10 stone 4 to 8 stone 7, but my bust measurement has not changed. My under-bust measurement is smaller at 26 inches instead of 30, but my over-bust measurement has stuck at 34.5 inches, and nothing I do will change that. I also didn't lose much from my hips (just 2 inches) as there wasn't much fat there in the first place: it's mainly just my bone structure. Point being, it just may not be realistic to shave much more off your bum!

If it's just your buttocks, it might be worth talking to a personal trainer about exercises that could focus on toning that area up.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I've booked in with the seamstress for 16th April, so I'm on a 7 week challenge :-) The lady was so friendly and helpful(same place I bought the dress from) I took the dress with me to try on, and she said that even if my shape doesn't change she'll make it fit perfectly, apparently my booty isn't as big as I think ha ha!.... Phew, what a relief!! Going to aim for 2lb a week off until then, and just maintain for the 4 weeks before the big day xxx

When I was loosing weight to fit into my wedding dress (from my thighs), I did two things;
-Cut out alcohol; seriously, if you're eating healthy but still drinking booze, it's gonna keep the weight on. Drink lots of water, lots and lots of water. - I did the following exercises (they're very simple). First one; lie down on your back, with your legs up against a vertical surface (a wall is best), so you're in a L shape. With your left hand raise up to touch your right foot, then lie flat again, then touch your left foot with your right hand, and lie back down. Do this 10 times for each side (20 total), or more if you find that too easy. Up the amount you do every 3 days. Second exercise; still lying on you back, raise you legs up straight, so you're resting your weight on your shoulder. Hold your hips for more support. Will your legs are up (vertically), do a peddling motion, like you're on an invisible bike. Do this for as long as possible.
I hope those instructions make sense.
Those exercises really helped me shift weight from my thighs, and toned up the sides of my back. I hope that helps x
