We'll here I am in Florida and it has been one disaster after another. Won't bore you with details but have now been sitting in tears. I took my wedding dress into a steamy bathroom to try to help creases come out and as I turned the dress around I found 3 lipstick stains, burgundy on the back of the dress :'( obviously done by wedding dress ladies as they were squishing into the box. The dress was too big for flight box n they really had trouble doin it but I'm so gutted they didn't notice or tell me. I get married in 6 days n now have stains on my dress!

It's not very thick but coz of the colour it stands out immediately. It will also be at least 4-5 days old now. I have no idea if they have tried to remove it or even know it was there at all...

Will dry cleaning get this out?

    Waahhhhhhhhhh! :'(

theres loads of stuff on the internet about getting lipstick stains out...but i reckon your best bet is to take it to a cleaners though and show them the stain and tell them what it is as I am sure they have lots of experience with doing stuff like that. I reckon it will come out, if you do try it yourself make sure you don't rub it and put something underneath the stain so that it doesn't bleed or spread further...xx

Thanks. Did put tissue either side of gaza n try to blot it out but no luck. Also did a little rub with the tissue on one bit. Hope I haven't made it worse. So gutted.

i got a red wine stain the size of a small child off of a white wall once so i have every confidence its going to come out!! just try and keep calm. what time is it there? I am in Bangkok so i literally have no idea! maybe call round to a few dry cleaners and see if you can get any advice or find out if there is anything they can do (would be better than dragging the dress from place to place and risking it getting anything else on it...) xx

Try asking concierge at your hotel to call round a few places they'd recommend. I took my dress to Vegas and dropped it off at the dry cleaners as soon as we landed. It got delivered back to my room two days later; beautifully clean and with not a crease in sight!
I had a full length dress with a 2ft train and it was extremely delicate material with lots of beading detail. It cost me $125 and was worth every cent.
I'm sure the cleaners can work their magic babe x

Awww no you poor thing :( I agree with Little Kettle, you're in America where anything is possible! Definitely get it to a dry cleaners and if they're any good they'll tell you if they can do it.
Hope everything else is ok xx

Yes I'd definitely find a local dry cleaning place. There might even be a local bridal shop that could point you in the right direction, or the hotel staff might know of somewhere. Where on the back of the dress are they? Worst case scenario could you cover them up with a stole?

I would definitely be contacting the dry cleaners. Elinor you are obviiously more sensible than me since if I were in that situation my worst case scenario solution would be to get the tip-ex out!

    Haha showgirl!

I am in a villa so no hotel staff to help.

I took it to a bridal shop who recommendef a dry cleaners. I left it with them and will hopefully get it back saturday. I was trying to tell them to be careful with it coz it cost a lot (for my budget anyway) she seemed to undersand ( ppl were mexican i think) but we seemed to be on the same page or so to speak... Lets hope it all works out. Feel nervous knowing its not here with me.

The ladies who boxed my dress did it as a favour to me. I brought a hand luggage case n tried to pack it the night before i flew...it didnt fit so a friend of mine offered to take it to her work n box it up in a spare fligjt box n even delivered it the morning we were leaving as i was in the walk in centre with my toddler who had developed a rash n temps of 40 degrees!!!

It was a nightmare day n didnt know if we wud even be able to fly with him. He is on antibiotics now n is getting better. But dont wana complain to friend as she was so good to us for doing it n delivering it back when she knew my boy was ill. She didnt even charge me for the flight box.

Just unfortunate its gonna cost me a LOT more now to have the area dry cleaned n dress gotta be steamed too from the flight box.

    Fingers crossed ladies...x
