We have been to see our cake lady tonight (She works where I work and does it as a hobby so does it at just the cost for ingredients which is brilliant) We would like it to be fruit and sponge and 3 tiers, just wondering whether to have more fruit or more sponge. SPONGE all the way, not as sickening as chocolate and definitely not fruit :D. Would it be fine to have just sponge for the three tiers and the spare cake I am having? (I don't have choice of chocolate)

we are having a 3 tier cake, the largest tier will be chocolate and then the other 2 will be sponge (We don't like fruit cake and neither do our guests)

No way! I voted for fruit cake as I love it, and that is what we are having, but by the looks of things, most of our guests will not touch it, lol. 7%, shocking! ;) Just as well we are having two cakes, me and h2b will keep the fruit one if no one touches it and that will be our desserts sorted for the next 6 months, lol. x

Thans for all your voting and comments ladies! Looks like sponge is more liked than fruit, so we should go for 2 tiers sponge and one fruit. I originally wanted 1 fruit, 1 chocolate and 1 sponge, but the lady who is doing ours doesn't work with chocolate. So I thought fine, I'm not really that bothered anymore as it may be just me that wants that and I will most probably have some sort of chocolate pudding.
She said (a bit of advice here) that its best to have your heavier cakes on the bottom and sponges as one of the higher tiers, otherwise you could have a sunken cake! as I was thinking fruit, sponge, fruit.
