Okay, so this might be a silly question but I was thinking about what I want to wear the morning of the wedding and was thinking a zip up hoodie or blouse so I don't have to pull it over my hair after it's been done. But I then thought about my dress.... my dress lady has always put it on over my head, is that how everyone has done it... as surely this runs a huge risk of hair being massively messed up?

Could we step into them, but the how do you get the hoop on?

I didn't have a hoop, so not sure about that, but my shop made me step into every dress I tried on, including my own.

I've heard of people putting a scarf over their hair before putting their dress over, and having people stand on chairs/the bed so they are higher than you when helping you in?

At my final fitting she put my hoop on the floor first then put the dress so the opening was over the hoop opening if that makes sense then I just stepped into it with some help from my friend.

I had a rather embrassing exprience with this.. So every time I went to try on my dress they put the hoop on first then but the dress over me head, then on my final fitting, the put the hoop and the dress on the floor so I could step in to it. Then relised that it wouldn't go over my bum :/! My hips and bum are bigger then my waist so it was very embrassing! My dress has to go over my head...
I laughed it off then she showed me, my mum and sister a way of getting it on over my head with out ruining my hair.
I would try both ways and see what one is best for you. X

Most dresses you can step into if not then have ur hairdresser there for when you put dress on so she can fix it if there is anything out of place but I think as long as ur arms are wide enough apart and someone helping u should be able to get it over ok :) x

My seamstress put the hoop on the floor then the dress over it and pulled the waist of the hoop through so I stepped into both that and the dress. Then pulled up the hoop, shimmied into it and then pulled up the dress and laced it up. Its a 2-3 person job but much simpler and less hazardous to your hair :)

I'll attempt the hoop on step into dress routine then lol, but not sure if my dress will fit over my bum that way. I'll try it that way first and if not we'll have to just be really careful with the hair.

I have always stepped into mine so don't have any advice here :( can you try stepping into it before you take it home?

clair im the same as my hips are wider I have to have the dress over my head....my hair dresser said this is not a worry as she is staying with me until I leave the hotel so if there are any touch ups that need doing (especially after putting the dress on) shes on hand

Oh the little things we need to consider that men don't. With your hairdresser still there after you get into dress it will be fine (just mind and leave a bit extra time invade touch ups are required)

I stepped into my dress, and that was how I'd always done it in the shop as well. I had a hoop, and my MOHs (I had two) held the hoop and dress open together so that I stepped into both at the same time, and then we could pull up both hoop and dress. Your hair is normally done before you get the dress on, and in my case the hairdressers had said they wanted to finish an hour before I was due to leave, presumably to allow time to get the dress on and have photos. If they don't have another appointment to go to you could ask them to stay in case anything needs touching up, but you should be ok to step into the dress.
