We were thinking of serving the cake at the wedding breakfast as dessert, that way we know it will not go to waste. We are having a 4 tier cake so there will be enough for the evening guests as well.
Just wanting your thoughts on this or do you think we are better having a dessert and having the cake later on?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks x

NO loadsa people have wedding cake as pudding, we personally arent but we were thinking about doing it and like you say you wont get any wastage really then and still plenty for evening guests x

Lots of people do it but check to see if you venue are going to charge you extra to do this as some put in sneaky 'cutting of the cake' if you don't order their desserts. I'm serving mine as a dessert for the evening buffet.

sounds good to me, but just make sure with yout venue that they will do that, as i know ours wont as they have had some wedding cakes that they served as dessert and they had gone off, so they couldnt have dessert, but if venue is fine with it sounds like a plan xx
cant wait to renew my vows, love my hubby sssssooooo much xx

Im having mine served for dessert and not having it for the evening do as in my experience people dont really eat sweet things in the evening the savoury gets eaten but the cakes dont..my venue is knocking money off because we are doing this...but finding a cake to look like a wedding cake and a dessert is not easy...I dont know why ! but think I have found a lady now who will do a milk chocolate cake with a white chocolate crispy/bark type coating on the outside and she will dress it with fruit, she assures me it wil be lush with a bit of cream for a dessert..and its only £180 and will serve 70 people..
We're having ours with the evening buffet. Our numbers will be doubled at night so it should get eaten.

We're having vanilla Cheescake for dessert, and the wedding cake in the evening ... only becuase we want to do the cake cutting after the meal and they won't be able to cut it up before we do it.

saying you're having a 4 tier cake and will it be enough doesn't help. How many guests have you got and how big are your tiers? It also depends on the shape of the cake. Do a google search for a cake servings guide, that should help you figure out how many slices you should get for your cake

We'll be doing the same as many of the others on here ... serving the cake as part of the evening buffet. There'll also be a separate cake which will be my birthday cake available too. xx
CommentAuthorKye

Thanks for all your opinions ladies.
During the day we are having 48 guests and evening another 60 in the evening. My MIL2B is doing our cake for us so I know there will be plenty for all. I can't see it being a problem getting it cut as I'm lucky it is my MOH's brother who is the manager of where we are getting married, he is a friend of us as well and has already thrown in extras that aint in with the package we are having. x

we're going to serve our cake as dessert after the buffet, this way no one is forced to eat it if they don't want any and others will be able to have whatever they like so it won't go to waste! :) xxx

Oh my word, I am so not good with cakes! Thinking about my last few birthdays, I have been too busy dancing that it has been done at the end of the night. Then I end up taking it home and having it for brekkie lunch and dinner the rest of the week!

ours will be served as a buffet dessert. That way the evening guests will get to see the cake as well

We're going to ask our venue if we can serve it as dessert instead of paying extra for a different one. Then serve the rest with the evening buffet. I don't want it to go to waste!

After reading the comments I think I will save the wedding cake for the night time buffet and as it's my h2b birthday the day we get married I am now thinking of getting a birthday cake for the dessert. That way his birthday is not put to the background. Does that sound a good idea or should I do it the other way about or do something totally different? The more thought I have the more confused I get, lol.
Thanks for all your inputs ladies. x
