We've been browsing wedding rings but we're not getting married til August 2011. I've seen one I love though (loved it as soon as I saw it) - but is it too early to buy them yet?

Also, I noticed they're measured in mm - what's the best size for a bride's ring (the one I've seen is 5mm)? Do you think this will be too wide?

Hello hun. I'm not getting married til July 2011 and I ordered ours a couple of weeks ago. I think when you find the one you like it's never too early to buy them! you do have to stop looking then though, or you might change your mind :0 lol I have had a 5mm ring width because I have big hands and long fingers, and thinner rings looked lost on me. I also will probably only wear my wedding ring, as I do have quite webbed skin in between my fingers which doesn't leave much room for 2 rings.
Best thing to do is go and try on a 5mm ring and see how it looks and feels xx

Thanks CupCake - we'll have to take a trip to the jewellers I think. I'm the same as you - thinner rings don't suit me. My engagement ring is a diamond cluster because I tried on single diamond but my finger looked far too wide to wear one. The cluster looked really big in the shop but when I tried it on it suited the size of my hand.

Thanks everyone. Hoxxyhula - yeah it is a good excuse for diamonds ;-) lol.

When we were shopping yesterday we looked in the jewellers window (where the ring I'd seen was) and tbh even though it's 5mm it doesn't look that wide - and it's just as gorgeous in the flesh as online!!

H2b didn't see anything there (the one he likes is in another jewellers) but we've decided that we'll go and buy it in a few weeks when we've paid the balance of the wedding. The jewellers doesn't have a branch in Leeds so it means a trip further afield (ooh a whole day shopping lol).

I haven't ordered mine yet, but I went to see the jeweler who's going to make them for us. He said that he only needs a couple of months to do it, and that we should wait a bit to see if the cost of gold comes down :D he was really sweet... it's the same guy who made my engagement ring, so I know that he's good!! Kinda wish I could have ordered them though, it would be one less thing on the to-do list!!
    xx

The price of gold is really high at the moment. At the wedding fair we went to a couple of weeks ago the guy selling rings was telling us that it's through the roof at the moment - and it might even rise. I think he ws just trying to get us to buy now though lol.

We're going to a shop where they're already to buy and not too bad a price - mine's £199 and h2b's is around the same (in F Hinds and H Samuels).

At least you only have 3 months to wait - I'll probably do the same once we've bought it, but got to wait til August next year :-(
