so we went with the hotels recommended stationery supplier and after seeing them and getting a mock made up, it was basically 4quidds worth of rubbish printed invites - something I would be able to do myself but wanted to avoid.
Then we found a friends mum who we've gone with as hers are all hand made and put together and better quality for cheaper.
SO I emailed the first people and told a little white lie that we'd gone with simpler invites elsewhere due to my indecisiveness - I didnt have the heart to say your invites are rubbish.
Literally this second i've had an email saying basically if we had of wanted simpler invites they would have done it for us and for cheaper BUT THEY ALSO WANT THEIR SAMPLE POSTED BACK TO THEM.!!
im not sure how i feel about them asking for it back - why would they want it - are they recycling the material.... I dont really want my wedding info still in their hands tbh and im not even sure if i've still got it.
Is it just me or does this sound strange...... or is it totally normal and im the weird one
im puzzled

They might think you will use their sample elsewhere for cheaper price maybe.but if you have bought them it does sound weird to me asking for them back

it was only one sample mock up and even then it was all on printed paper not card or anything special and even the pocketfold was poor quality.
If i used her cheap invites, my guest would laugh at me
ive rang my OH at work just now cos it bugged me and hes told me to ignore the email. Ive signed no doc etc or wasnt told i HAD to return samples upon rejecting them
Its very weird lol

That is weird lol
Normally any returns are discussed prior to items sent but if not mentioned I would ignore it too

I would find the sample, find a way to damage the area with the wedding information (like scratching or something) and would return it. But they are sooooo stupid for asking it back ¬¬
Did you pay for it? Is there anything you agreed to if you didn't go with them that you'd return the sample? Can they send you an SAE if they want it back? Don't they already have your wedding details?

Why don't you just reply and ask why it is that they require the sample back? It does sound a little strange but maybe they have a good reason?
Also, surely they will already have your wedding details as you gave the details over in the first place. They will probably have them saved xx

I would email them back and say you'd happily return the sample (If you haven't thrown it away) but would they please supply you with a SAE.
They will want it back so that you don't take it elsewhere and "copy" their work. It could be that the sample is on cheap paper and not card as its a sample and not the actual invite. I find this weird tho as my sister got a sample and it was exactly like their invitation will be.

no i can honestly say the pocketfold card was the final deal like she said it would be to give me a genuine guide to go by. the info card was on paper - the final version, it was the little inserts that she had printed in paper not card. It was the best invite they'd done apparently - im slightly worried this lol I signed nothing, nothing was mentioned to us etc, i have just the one sample, i have no others- that we genuinely took home to mull over and think about, and an opportunity presented itself to use someone else. so its not being copied and tbh i wouldnt want to, everyone i showed is horrified with the sample.
im just puzzled because other companies i got a sample off each (way back in dec) were the same size of business - small and local and ive never been asked to return it. I just thought that was the point of samples for you to keep and mull over and decide from there :( but it was never paid for no

That does sound a bit strange, especially as you've paid for it. But I guess that they maybe think that if you're using another supplier then you'll get the same design but cheaper. We paid £5 for our sample and she did it up properly as it was for the final invitation. She only did an RSVP card for us, not the other inserts. Luckily they were awesome and we didn't need to go elsewhere.

yeah i could under stand ladies if i'd paid for my sample, which i wasnt oppose to do, it never came up.
all bizarre really :s

I find that very strange, especially if you paid for it. If it was free I suppose they could reclaim it back, but it is strange. I would just ignore it for now, and if they send another email then take it from there.
