    Afternoon girlies,

Just wondering if your going for a tradtional wedding cake, or if your going for something quirky.
If so what are you having, and where are you getting it from? Also what do you' do if someone is offering to pay for it, I don't want to feel I'm going over there budget. X

We have a simple wedding cake to look at in terms of 'traditional' 3 tiers and white.
However that is where the tradition ends.
Our flavours are white choc with white choc buttercream & choc pieces, then dark and white fudge with fudge chunks, vanilla buttercream & fudge shavings, and then third tier is sticky toffee with vanilla buttercream toffee sauce and toffee pieces.

We are also having a chocolate fountain with white chocolate but its dyed to match our colour scheme of turquoise!

We're having a layered victoria sponge cake with fresh fruit for our wedding cake, we wanted something rustic looking and found an example on line which we loved! Plus so much cheaper than the traditional xx

We haven't got enough money in the budget for a cake so we have gone for quirky...... lots of people in our family and friends bake so we have decided to have a bring and share cake table. Anyone who wants to make a cake or dessert can bring on along. We'ev heard of someone else doing it and it worked really well. Plus it is giving a few people who had started to try and interfere something to focus on x

this will be mine - but not such a bright colour. Icing will be white with marble of fuschia, royal blue, yellow and red... gerberas on top in three colours (can't get gerberas in royal blue - they're fake flowers) in a swirl down with royal blue ribbon to seperate layers - nowt on top though.

Our cake was originally going to be baked by my future mother inlaw, but when I told her how I wanted it decorated she thought it best she had it over to a pro lol. Which is probably for the best :-P

I only spoke to the 'cake designer' (fancy title for baker) a couple of weekends ago, and ahe is a lovely woman based in Worcester.

The cake we're going for is 4 tiered, each tier a different shape and colour. Bright colours; blurple, necterine orange, emerald green, dark/gold yellow. The cake will be decorated with a paisley/ henna style gold icing.

We meet up with the CD again next month to see the mock up, and to change anything (if needed). I'm excited to see what it will loook like!! :-)

PS when we went for the meeting with the CD, she had me and my OH go through cake mags to chose the styles we like - seperately, no conferring. Then she was going to 'marry' both of our ideas. My OH chose white cakes, with bearly any pattern.
As you may have guessed, brides ideas trump grooms ;-)

My MIL is making our cake, she wanted to be involved with the wedding and financial help wasn't really an option, so yeah. No idea what sort of style it will be yet, but she makes really good cakes, so I'm happy ^_^

I'm asking my brother's girlfriend to make our cake and not giving any instruction. I don't want to put any pressure on her, and I want a surprise on the day :) The only stipulation will be no fruit cake!!

We're having a chocolate and Guinness cake!!!
With bride and groom bears on top.
I didn't want traditional as I wouldn't eat it and H2B thinks traditional is dull!!!
