    Evening ladies,

I have just been for my first day wedding dress shopping and have found a lovely dress. It could be the one, I just want to try other things on to make sure before I commit, but I am 95% sure its the one. The question I have is, did anyone negotiate on the price? The dress is £1200 and I want a veil which I think is £95. If I was buying it, I dont think this would be problem, I would have just forked out the cash and been happy with my pretty new dress....! However, my Mum wants to buy my dress, and its more money than I wanted her to spend. I offered to pay the bit extra, but she wont have it. Shes a proud lady, but I know she cant afford it. So I was wondering in short, has anyone negotiated? I dont think the shop would sell me the dress as a sample and I have looked around and no one local to me seems to stock the designer (Lusan Mandongus) except this shop, so I cant really go elsewhere. Any ideas ladies? x

The price is always negotiable especially as you're looking to buy accessories from the shop as well. It's worth a try. You could always try getting a sample dress as well.

I email the shop I got my dress from saying it in this other shop for x price knocked a little more off ( shop had a 10% sale on for the month didnt tell them that) and said but I really liked they shop and how welcome I felt and it much closer to me and what deal could they do for me I got nearly £400 off the price of non sale price of dress in the other shop and £200 chaper then they sale pric, and they shop I got my dress didn't stock the sample of the dress I wanted but is a stockist for the designer so they could order it and still done a deal for me. I alway say if you done ask you don't get and there no harm asking as they price are price up high so they can knock money of and they still making profit and you think your getting a good deal.

I tried to negotiate but to be honest got no where with most things... most people just rip you off for anything wedding related and dont seem to shift as their attitude is another bride will buy it/book me. It is defo always worth trying though but just dont be disappointed if they say no.

as my dress comes with a veil attatched.... i didnt really need any other accessories from the shop, and to be honest i never even thought of asking for discount off.. but the lady was lovely enough and just knocked 10% off saving us over £200

to be honest these shops are making nearly 100% profit from the dresses anyway, so you got nothing loose

go for it and ask, all they can say is no

Just ask if that's the best price, no harm in that. Tbh 95 isn't a lot for a veil so I'm sure they'd throw that in - I also got my underskirt for 55 rather than 125 by asking the shop to price match the internet - you never know until you try!

I was wondering the same thing! The dress I love is in the shop as the right size as a sample. But it cost 900.. so I'm thinking of asking if I can buy the sample.. does it matter if its not in the "sample sale" rail? and what do i say?? I just feel really cheeky! xx

Just ask them, what's the best price you can do on the dress and then when they say whatever they say say ok and what about throwing the veil in for free? U don't ask u don't get :) good luck x

Mine was only £420 so I didn't need to knock anything off but we did on the bridesmaid dresses as we got everything from one shop.

    It's always worth asking x

I think I only got that much discounted because I said at the start I wouldn't be spending more than £700 so when I loved my dress and it was £1000 my mum said she should have never let me try it on when I told her what the budget was! I was mortified she'd said it at the time but it worked! Xx

Well, to update you all.....I went back today and tried on the dress again, and loved it....However, my Mum wasnt convinced... Which is fine, she's allowed her opinion....However I tried an even more expensive dress on, and we both agreed it was lovely. So now, heres me wanting an even more expensive dress and a £225 veil.... Typical me! (I promise I wasnt even looking at labels!). I asked for her best price, and she said its the one on the label (£1350). That sucked completely.... However, she did say maybe she could do something on the price of the accessories (I only had a veil and have my own shoes already) so I presume she might give me something off the veil. I didnt order it then and there as I have an appt booked somewhere a bit cheaper this Sat. I kind of hoped this might make her worry I'd buy something else, but she stuck fast on the price. She wont sell the sample and I cannot find anyone else locally who stocks the designer. Any more ideas ladies... (Anything except tears! I dont do tears!!!) x

Try and get freebies thrown in...is she the manager or the only shop assistant? Maybe try and arrange a second viewing with the manager or someone else. Xx
