Wedding Forum - Wedding planning diary - 08.08.15 *nailed...

As it is now all official I thought it the right time to start a planning diary!

So far we have
- paid (stupidly huge) deposit at our chosen venue for 60 people at ceremony and wedding breakfast, going up to 100 for evening do. 3 course wedding breakfast, welcome drink, fizzy for toasts venue hire, evening bacon sarnies, honey moon suite etc all included
- booked and paid for registrar for 3pm ceremony

Priority things to do
- pay deposit to venue decor lady for chair covers/sashes, top table and cake table swagging and 100 person candy buffet for the evening.
- decide if we want a top table starlit backdrop
- decide if we want resident DJ to play before/after band or find our own.
- decide on songs for the quintet to arrange to be played while register signing and walking back down the aisle together.
- pay deposit to the band

It's now getting very real and very exciting!!

Sounds like you are well on track, I am getting married the same day as you :) can't wait to get past the one year mark.

We have some draft save the dates to look at now, I think we will combine elements of her ideas together for the final one.
Also decided on a photographer, sending a deposit cheque off in the post this evening!
Toyed with the photobooth idea but decided against it as they are just too expensive and we are not that bothered about having one, hopefully the band and sweet buffet will keep people entertained enough.
Have paid the deposit for chair covers etc, she is also sorting out first dance choregraphy for us as a suprise for everyone else, gonna be awesome as h2b really doesn't dance, I just jiggle around him whenever we have been to weddings before!
Found a choir friend who will DJ before and after the band for cheaps, and his lights are sound sensitive so they should dance about quite nicely to the band too which saves us having to fork out more for the band to bring their lights.
I think we have gone off the backdrop idea as they are so flipping expensive, we will look into making something ourselves.

Next things to do is speak to the venue about how room bookings as we already have family members asking, plus need to find out if I stay at there the night before will I then need to move rooms into the honeymoon suite to get ready or can I have it the night before aswell.
Also the menu options, we have so many dietary requirements we need to check how many menu options we can have :)
So many silly questions right now :(

We have considered it yes, I think the mums would like to put something together :)

Have appointments booked for tomorrow with a local florist to see what they suggest as tulip alternatives, and also an independent dress shop that I had completely forgotten existed. They are more about made to measure and bespoke than just bridal, but seen a lot of good pics of their work so will see what options they have :)

Well today was completely not what I expected!
Flowers were a bit of a headache, I'd seen picture of calla lillies in a bright purple but apparently naturally they are a darker purple which doesn't fit wih our colour scheme. So were shown examples using lisanthium and cream roses which looked really nice, but h2b isn't so keen. He's having a grump about it now so bit of a sore point but I think it's more because I went with just my mum and not him.

So then we went to the dress shop, and it was amazing! Lookd through what was on the rails and tried on three different styles, and fell in love with two of them. One was a Grecian style chiffon gown with a detailed belt round the middle, and the other was a fishtail lace number that can be made with a lighter underlay which is better for an August wedding. The lady makes everything herself so it's super flexible. It's still early days so no decisions yet but I was completely blown away by both, I'm going to be so pretty! She also makes bridesmaids dresses in all sorts of styles and colours and can adapt those too, plus do a package to save some money if I get my dress there plus matching ties for the boys. So we will probably go back with local bridesmaids after iv looked at some other shops :)

Decided on which florist to go with, just got to put deposit down.
And managed to coordinate bridesmaids to meet up on the 16th August to play dresses so booked an appt at the shop I will prob get my dress from.
Also finalised the save the dates so will be getting those printed and distributed fairly soon, several people have been asking about the date already!

Went to see a balloon/venue decor warehouse last night, so got some decisions to make about balloons too. I loooove balloons :D

Dress shopping! So much fun but so confusing! This is my front runner, this is the second time I put it on so the shop lady didn't pin me in properly so I'm a bit off centre and not cinched in, but you get the idea :) thinking about adding straps in the same material as the skirt with the bling on top. Felt soooo beautiful :)

And I even had a thing for this one with an added part over the shoulders to make a keyhole back plus a belt on the middle, different from what I was looking at, but looked stunning.

I did initially.......until 2 dresses later when I questioned it after seeing the cinching in effect of the maggie sottero one. I didn't feel fat at all in that one!

That's a good way to think about it, I'm still not sure! :)

Provisionally booked on the day hair and make up for me, my mum and 3 bridesmaids at the venue ( they have a spa with on site hairdressers and make up artist). Ceremony at 3pm but going to have to start at 9 to get everybody done, scary!!
Will have trials before hand, but good to get it provisionally booked for the day so nobody else sneaks in :)

Hair & make up on site is amazing, how much are they charging you? Im just in the process of looking for hair & make up now.

At least it's all on site though so no traveling back and fore :)

Bridesmaids dresses sorted and my dress ordered. All will be purple and the red one in the pic that is strapless has optional straps to match the purple one. Ordered my dress too! Here we are all together :)

Giving notice tomorrow morning :D
Then we go away for the weekend for a friends wedding, then the next wedding we go to will be ours!

Given notice now so it's all official, got a pack of stuff to look through and vows to think about.

Also ordered this headband today, sooo excited!

Oh I'm SO jealous that you can pick up your headband already!! I have to wait until next May before mine's arriving :( x
