Emily - as much as it is lovely of you to get those things in you absolutely don't have to! I would never dream of getting all that in for any party where people are expected to bring their own drinks let alone my own hen party. you just sort yourself it with a few bottles and let everyone else sort it between themselves x

I have had a bit of a disaster. So you may know I am getting married in New York in December. The wedding itself is booked for the 13th December but we were waiting for the Ice Hockey Fixtures to come out to book a suite/box for a game as the reception. Bit of a risk I know but with three teams I thought we would get something.

So my H2B's team play in NJ - short train/taxi ride away. His team are playing my team but it is the day before our wedding!! I am gutted, that would have been perfect for us. There is a game in Brooklyn for another two teams on our actual wedding day but its not the same.

I have contacted my wedding company to see if we can change it by 1 day, it would even mean it would be easier for my bridesmaid if we had the wedding the day before as well but I am now stressing that we are either going to have to have the reception before the wedding or that we might have to go and see two teams we are not really interested in, or third is going to have to find a reception venue in NY.

I am so gutted I could cry, we also were having the wedding on the 13th as Wednesday 13 are 'our band' and the first band we saw together so that would have been perfect.

    Hey Ladies

First post on here from my NEW HOUSE! Boxes and rubbish everywhere, but at least we are in! t was a hard slog to move as we did it ourselves and took 5 days and 7 van loads in total. Tired is not half of it!!

Thankfully though Friday/Saturday was my hen celebration - at a spa, so I got time to unwind a little and ease my sore and aching feet. We had a lovely time , even though my poor Mummy was ill the Friday night so missed out on dinner with us.

But back on Saturday to the hussle and bustle of unpacking. We're getting there but might be a few weeks until we're properly sorted... Just in time for the wedding haha.

OH still has not sorted his suit and we still need to go and buy his wedding ring. Other than that I think all I need to do is to finish my favours and place cards.

    Can't believe it's so close!

Wundattiga, we started talking about moving houses, and I keep thinking about your comments here about moving houses and organizing a wedding at the same time lol I hope we don't get too stressed.

Good luck Claire! That is pretty close for moving.

Our biggest stress at the moment is that we moved in over the weekend (as we had the luxury to do that with the house we bought being empty) and we were supposed to complete on the Tuesday, but our buyers solicitor cocked something up and we are still waiting to actually complete - so technically we don't yet own this house!

Our solicitor sent a really strongly worded letter to our buyers solicitor yesterday, basically telling them to stop faffing and get on with it and we've got everything crossed that it all comes together this week.

It's a shame you can't change your days, but I too believe in things happening for a reason and whatever happens I am sure you'll enjoy it. Would you consider going to the game on your own as a last pre-wedding date??

Oh my, I don't know how you are dealing with the stress! I got everything crossed for you xx

I think that might be what we do, we were planning on having a dinner for everyone to get to know each other before the wedding but actually we could turn it to lunch then us go onto the game after. Only thing is wont be back to the hotel until 12ish and I have my MOH staying with me in my hotel room for the next day, will have to see if she wants to come to the game too or it might be tricky.

Guess it could be worse :)

Wundatigga, there's nothing more stressful than moving house, especially when someone else is mucking you about. We had this ourselves, albeit with n@tw35t, 4 years ago. Day before we were due to exchange, they pulled out. Needless to say that was a costly mistake for them! Compensation and the fact we got our mortgage at a better rate elsewhere, it's their loss ultimately!

Lesley, I totally agree in having it as a pre wedding date! Or is there a possibility of having a rehearsal style dinner there after the game?

I picked up my dress and paid the last balance for the venue today! Can't believe how quick the time has gone. Stressing out a bit as I've just realised I haven't organised the cake yet! Just the rings and oh's suit to sort out now (which he'll end up doing the day before if I don't start nagging him!!) Even the honeymoons booked!

Mrs T Hurley 2B, it is a good idea but the game will finish about 10:30, by the time we get back to new york it will be about 12. My two concerns is that if by MOH isn't at the game it will be awkward getting her into my room etc and also its pretty late. The wedding the next day isn't until 2 but I don't really want to be out that late - I might just have to.

My OH is the same though, he ants a suit made so he needs to get a move on to organise it, takes 15 weeks and he is running out of time. I had a winge because everything I had to do is done. The two things he needs to do as in his suit and gt a date to choose rings (because he is super fussy) is not done. Just getting to the tipping point of my stress levels now!

You still have 4 months Camila, do not worry. Get yourself a list or excel and note wwhat you have and what is left to do - yu will see you have done more than you think x

I know Emily, they have to make it from scratch. I feel like he should get a nice suit as i am getting a new dress - only fair :) except the rate he is going he will be wearing his funeral suit (he never wears one for anything else) I don't have a nervous breakdown I will be surprised, honestly my OH wants to lose weight before he goes to the shop but is doing nothing about it. It isn't going to magically disappear!

Mrs T, our coordinator pretty much only finds th expensive things! We may end up doing a thing at the hockey the day before for whoever want s to go then either the restaurant in our hotel or the box at the other game. Was talking to my boss and actually if it is a game we are only semi interested in it, it might be better for the reception, otherwise we might not be able to mingle or talk to people - still trying to remain positive

Has anyone asked their florists to give you extra flowers to put on the cake? If so, did they charge extra? I'm about to send an email to my florist as follows:

"Would it be possible if you could give us any flowers that are spare or unable to use so we can put them on top of our cheesecake"

Hi ladies, H2B and I have our 3-month meeting with our venue this week, I'm really nervous about it! I just keep worrying that all of the prices will have gone up yet again and we won't be able to afford the venue if they keep on rising! At the same time it's scary to think that we only have 3 months left until the big day!

Mrs T Hurley, I'm having minimal flowers and none on my cake so I can't really comment on cost etc, but your email sounds fine to me. I would like to think if you're spending a lot of money with the florist that they would at the very least give you a discount!

Loz, I would think if you guys have booked the wedding a long time ago, they shouldn't be allowed to rise prices. I don't if you have a contract or what it says, but although we don't have a contract, all the prices agreed with the venue are in a document, and nothing should change.

Mrs T, I can't really help on that, I am sorry.

Ok, so attendants gifts basically done. Ordered everything, but now I am looking for gold paint for the bm glasses and can't find anywhere (accepting tips). Favours are on production, I am making the candles basically one a day lol But they look soooo cute, I wish I could post photos on here.
My husband's brother + wife and kids have cancelled, with a horrible excuse and I am just glad the fact they're not coming gave me at least £250 extra on my budget. Can't be bothered to get stressed over people that don't deserve.
A detail, I am a bit worried about the church. We booked it last year and they were changing the vicar, and the prices. So they gave us a "approximate quote" and said it could change. Also, they said the church would get in touch with us near the time. Well, we are less than 5 months away now and we haven't heard a word. I have put some money aside from the budget for it, but I would like to meet the vicar before my wedding day and talk a bit. Don't like this uncertainty.

Camila, have you tried contacting the church? They might be able to reassure you and have a meeting with the new Vicar? O at leat give you an updated quote?

Wuntatigga, do you have time to go through eveerything that you have and then take an objective look at it? You might be worried because you don't have your finished dress yet but if you see everything written down it should help x

Claire, I am not sure when you are getting married but I got a good deal on tiara, side headband and jewellery set form there at the Wedding show - they should be there in September if that isn't too late? I got all that for under £100.

I have my hen do this weekend, off to outskirts of Barcelona :) a little early I know but I am going to be busy for the rest of the year. And OH has decided we should have the reception before the wedding so a little unconventional but our whole wedding is going to be, and personal to us so I am happy :)

Lesley, I have been looking for their contact information online, but don't find anything. All that is available is the contact information for the previous vicar. My MIL suggest us to attend a service and stay to talk to the vicar. Might do that. Have fun at your Hen do! :D

Wundatigga, this thing about thinking you are forgetting something always happen to me. Try to keep track of everything and maybe ask someone to help you checking if you're not forgetting anything. It will be fiiiine.

Claire, I've got my hair piece from the dress shop. It was something like £30 and it is really simple and delicate. Try wedding shops, they might have something you like :)

Lesley, glad to hear you had a good time!

Sorry to pester you all with this but i was looking for some advice, i've made a thread about it but i'm starting to get really concerned.

on 1st July i had an appointment with a seamstress to look at alterations for my dress, she said she could do it and all was going well. i asked her for an estimate of costs before we left the shop but just as i asked we actually got locked in the dtore, we managed to get out but within all the kerfuffle my questions wasn't answered. So the next day i messaged her asking again, the message was read and i was given no reply. I left it over a week and again yesterday I sent her another message (this being 10 days after the initial appointment) she responded right away asking my surname even though my full name was in the message, i replied within a minute answering her. Again the message was read and she sent no reply.

I really don't know what to do, i don't want to keep asking and asking but it would be nice to know what i'm budgeting. what if she does the work and it's out of my budget? It's only two months until my wedding and it's getting a bit close to be chasing all the time

any advice would be appreciated - sorry for the length

    TIA x

I don't think it is wrong you asking and you have left quite a while between contacting. I would keep on to be fair and you have every right to worry, it is your dress after all. Good luck xx

Nicole - be pushy. This is your wedding dress you're talking about!!

I personally would state that if she can not respond to your question and with a quote for the alterations by end of tomorrow (or this week if you prefer) then you will have to look to take your dress elsewhere. At the end of the day, you can't afford not to know, nor to wait for her to answer!!

thanks Wundatigga - i messaged her again today and she has eventually gotten back to me! she did aplogise for not getting back sooner and has quotes £54 for taking in the dress but will quote seperately for taken the length up after my next appointment. I'm hoping it won't come to any more then £200.00?

It really shouldn't be that much if it's only £54 for bringing it in - bringing a hem up it a lot simpler in comparison (just depends if you have lots of layers)

I'm so glad she came back to you x

Nicole, so happy she came back to you. I do doubt it will be over £200.

Im glad too Nicole and I know what you mean about that feeling of relief, you get so stressed thinking all the bad scenarios etc but just a little message relieves all that stress. Like Wundatigga says, the length is the easy bit and worse case just wear platforms - only joking but really shouldn't come to more than £200 xx

that's fantastic thanks Lesley, H2B's parents actually surprised us with a gift of some money today and it's actually enough (along with our savings) to pay off the rest of the wedding and have some spare!!! after yesterdays stresses it all seems to be coming together! x
