    Exciting times MrsC :)

I'm trying to decide if I am going to get a second petticoat or not. I have wanted a colourful one since before I decided on a dress (I have an ivory one already). When I settled on a blue dress, I wasn't sure if to do it or not. And now I can't stop thinking about it!

The petticoat is not too expensive as long as I get the right one. It's just knowing what colour to go with. I just love the idea of a surprising flash of colour and not just ivory - but I am worried it'll just look daft.

My initial thought was purple (to match the bridemaids) but I'm worried it will be too dark against my duck egg blue dress.

I have put pictures *ph0t0sh0p specials, in my photo album of the ideas - do they look wrong?

Thank you ladies and I appreciate the feedback. I love so many of this designers dresses but this one was definitely the one for me.

I always knew I wanted a short dress this time round and loved the idea, but then I found this dress and loved the fact it was blue so kind of left the colour petticoat thing - but as I say it's kind of come back and I just couldn't decide if it was a good idea or not.

I think I will leave her as she is then with the ivory :)

Mrs T Hurley see if this works ******************************************

Its quite flat so sits under your engagement ring nicely. I tried loads but this was the only one that complimented my engagement ring. It has a quarter carat diamond in it, so enough but not too much. Very pretty and sparkly in real life. EJ is owned by the same company and had the same ring but with a higher quality diamond for an extra £200 but to be honest we could not see the difference (the lovely lady in HS took the ring out of the shop and down to EJ to allow us to compare because I could not make my mind up). She got the sale lol

Today me and my mom have:
Finished ALL invites bar 1 we are hoping to bump to day so holding it back till we know for definite.
    Finished ALL favours
Made the children's activity books and put their packs together
Done most of the orders of service. They are all done but need to add the front title page. They have been printed but left them for the ink to dry so all we need to do is cut and stick them on. :)

Wundatigga we had very similar bridesmaid dresses for my friends wedding (length cut but not the same dress) and had royal blue petticoats underneath. I agree with others that the dark wouldn't look as good but I do like a bit of colour. I think it looked good for our bridesmaid dresses as they then weren't ivory (who has ivory bridesmaid dresses?) but for the main wedding dress I don't think so unless it goes with the rest of your wedding theme xx

Good work Emily, bet you are feeling relieved xx

I have a bit of a tricky situation.

As I have mentioned before we are getting married in New York. I have my mum, dad and brother coming plus my H's mum, dad, and brothers + wives. We also have a couple of friends but we are not inviting my grandad.

He is quit poorly and wouldn't be able to travel so I don't want to put that pressure on him. I want to tell him we are getting married and having a party in the UK after which he is invited to but don't really know what to write.

Do any of you have any suggestions. Anything I think of just doesn't quite cut it so an impartial opinion would be great. My mum suggested writing a letter as he tends to forget things but just don't know what to write.

Even writing this I feel awful!

I would invite him, even if I knew he wouldn't be able to come. Send him an invite, if you're having one, and with it you send him a letter, saying that you more than understand if he can't go, that you will miss him there, but that he shouldn't worry if he can't go because you guys will be celebrating together later on in the UK. That's basically what I would do.

    And don't feel awful! x

    Hi lesley,

definitely a difficult situation, i dont know if this could even work... but what about having a tablet on a chair with $kype set up, so he can see you and you can see him? That way it still feels like hes there a little and you can still see him. Or arrange a $kype call with him staight after the ceremony quickly?

    xx

That is a good idea or video it so he can see it when we get back, I think getting a skype call would be too complicated but I can have a word with my mum see what she thinks. My grandad can use my tablet and then get my mum to facetime him, that should be easy for him to answer. Not sure on Wifi but video is definitely a good idea if not (actually think that is a good idea anyway) I really didn't want a videographer but a phone recording would be enough.

    Thank you MrsC xxx

yea im sure you could ask one of the ushers/family members if they could film it, and then send it straight to your grandad after, either that or facetime. something so that he can still see it will definitely make him feel more like hes there, and probably mean alot to you too that hes seen it :) no problem glad to help! xx

We are getting married in Central Park (New York) so it is pretty limited in terms of MiFi/technology. We had a look in December and we had a few issues with signal but there isn't any way of the venue live streaming for us as it is just the park. It is a good suggestion but not one we can take up x Where are you getting married Claire?

The weeks are still flying by! Ive had a busy few weeks... We have just returned from a cruise around the UAE... Amazing! 59 days and ill be flying to Cyprus and awaiting my wedding day! Everything has been sorted just the remainder of our balance to be paid when we get over there.
Can anyone suggest a really good face cream?! My skin lately has been very dry. The sun will just make it worse and i dont want my make up to look awful on the day... Xx

I have the same issue and my sister has said about me using a moisture mask. You put it on leave it to soak ingot he skin for a couple of mins then wipe the excess off with cotton wool. Not tried it myself yet but she swears by it. Uses one from B0dy Sh0p

I have all sorts of issues with my skin, I have a 50:50 cream from the dr, its half petroleum jelly part moisturiser but no perfumes etc. That is really good as my skin is so dry it goes red. Otherwise I have a l1z 34rle facial cream which is very good. they have quite a good range and generally will give you a sample if you go to B00t5. I personally am allergic to a lot of masks but I know they do work for people.

    Good luck xx

Well I've finally decided on our ceremony music and have confirmed with the musicians that they're happy with our choices.

Also my Mum has just told me not to worry about decorations for the reception party at her house either, as she and my Step Dad are sorting this :)

Now just to finalise things for the hen party and book my H&M trial and we're good to go!

During the ceremony - Ellie Goulding "How Long Will I Love You"
    Jack Johnson "Better Together"
    Sleeping At Last "500miles"

Great job Emily - I haven't decided if I'm doing an order of service yet, as I don't know if it's worth it with there being so few guests?? I suppose I will see what the venue suggest as we haven't really confirmed timings with them yet anyways.

My memorial brooches for my bouquet came yesterday but I'm not sure they are big enough so might have to shop around for some different ones - depends if I can get photos small enough really to go into the frames.

I've been trying to think of something to get for my son for giving me away. He's 13 and won't really have a traditional specified role. I know I'm going to get a double photo frame with a message from me in one side and a photo from the wedding of the two of us in the other. I'm just not sure what else would be suitable. I though about maybe a men's manicure kit but not sure if this seems an odd thing to give?

For your memory brooches have you tried shrinking the pictures on a photocopier? I am just having faces in mine as they are pretty small but really they are just for me to feel like they are with me. I have bought some thin ribbon as well to put them on as I want them cascading down my handle of the flowers.

I also sent a letter to my grandad, letting him know that we are getting married and although he is invited that it isn't practical for him to fly all that way and that we are going to try filming it or skyping him so he can still see it. I am hoping he will be well enough for the UK party when we come back but at least that isn't as far to go. I hope he takes it well but luckily my mum is going to see him tomorrow so she can talk to him in person. It is so hard being so far away from him, not something I wanted to do on the phone.

9 Months today we tie the knot, it is very exciting :)

Thats a lovely gift, very personal. How about a proper grown up watch maybe for him if you aren't sure?

Emily - unfortunatly as good a sa watch would be, Ruben has had several weddings in the last couple of years, including his Dad, both is Dad's parents, and 2 uncles and I know his Dad and Nanna both gave him a watch so I feel he needs something different.

MrsC- I can't even remember what time we did it when I got married first time - it kind of just happened at some point; and we're not doing it this time. But my opinion is that you can have it as whatever time YOU want it. Just because it's normally at 8pm doesn't mean your wedding will go to the same timetable. It depends on lots of factors like what time you get married, what time you have asked your evening guests to arrive, what time is evening food being served/including children etc etc. :)

That's a shame Wundatigga. Definitely something personal; then. Maybe some cufflinks if you wanted something along those lines

I think ours is down for 8. not sure really. and i would assume the cake cutting is before the dance so that people can then join you on the dance floor.

So my grandad got my letter and he totally understands so I am happy now, that is a huge weight off my mind.

MrsC Thinking about it, it does make sense to have the cake cutting then the dancing, people are already up and it gives the waiters a chance to get the cake and cut it if that is what you are doing.

Think it is all starting to feel real now, seeing as you guys are quite close to your dates now :)

Wundatigga, How about engraving your son's tie with a nice message. Its personal, not too expensive and he can easily keep it. It will probably mean more to him when he is older though so you could get him a game or something if he is into computer games?
