Well me and my H2B have to waiting after the end of this month to book our venue and probably our reception because the church that we want to get married in might let us have the venue and the reception there. Then book everything else afterwards

JonanneH what a pain to have to wait you can't really get much done until your venue is booked so that you can be sure on dates and times. Have you been researching things you want tho? If you know exactly which photographer your want and how you want your venue decorates, if you want live music or a dj etc once the venue is confirmed you should be able to get the rest of it sorted pretty swiftly

Yes, me and H2B knows what we want for our entertainment (DJ which will play a mixture of old and new songs), my next door neighbor who is a professional professional and we have got a rough idea of how we want the decorations. All we need to sort out is the bridal dress, bridesmaids dresses, shoes and accessories, suits, favors and flowers

Had an email from the coordinator at our venue yesterday to confirm payment times. She asked if we had started booking suppliers as they will need all the names so they know who to let in on the day. We are going to Vegas next year and both of us think we might end up getting married out there instead so we don't want to book to much. Haven't told her that though.

If you get married in Vegas will you not loose money on the venue you've paid for here?

We would lose the deposit for the venue and the registrar. That's why we are holding off booking anything else. We really do need to decide one way or the other soon.

JulieB11- the question that you and your partner need to ask yourselves is where would you both rather to get married at the venue you've picked from here or Vegas
Because at the end of the day, its your wedding day and every bride wants it to be perfect like they've always dreamt it would be

we would both be equally happy with either. I'm pretty sure like most things we can't decide on it will come down to a coin toss. He's family want it here, mine are happy as long as we are, and I'm almost certain no matter what we decide it'll end up being last minute in Vegas because we had one to many cocktails and decided the elvis impersonator had to be part of our wedding.

If you was to have the wedding here then surely you can call or email an Elvis impersonator to come here if you asked. Either way it's your and your partner's wedding so no one can tell you what to do because it's your choice. Don't be forced to do something you don't want to do because then your wedding day won't be as special if it's was forced. I hope you and your partner can decide what you want to do with your wedding. Just make sure that it's yours and your partner's special day not anyone else

We don't even like elvis to be honest. We just think the tackiness of an elvis wedding in Vegas is awesome. Tacky in a good way anyone reading this who has or is thinking about doing it themselves.

    Hi all,
I thought we were mega early planning our wedding for 2017 (lots of venues refused to boom us up so early). We managed to get a lovely venue booked for 15/4/17 at 2016 prices because we were so organised. Only problem now is the vicar. As it's Easter Saturday she isn't too keen.
So pleased to see I'm not the only person booking up for 2017! X

Hello everyone. Didn't realise how long it's been since I last visited.....not much has changed with me. One thing I can absolutely cross off is the guest list. We've now decided to go for a small intimate ceremony, just us, our son, parents, grandparents and our brothers and their wives/kids. Our guest list just became ridiculously long and I'd had enough. The venue has been changed to our registry office in the city centre. We're are waiting for confirmation on our booking to book our date. Hope everyone else's plans are coming along nicely x

Hi CathyD and HelenM congratulations to you both and welcome to the world of wedding planning.
SophieD I wish I'd just gone with a small wedding, in fact I wish I stuck with my original dream wedding and we were planning to get married on a white sand beach somewhere hot and told anyone who wants to join us to pay for there own ticket.
H2B and I have fallen out with his mother again, we have been trying to build bridges with her for a while now but once again she's thrown it back in our faces whilst accusing me of being the most spiteful person on the face of the earth. So we have decided that is that we've tried, she doesn't want to know, so it's best for everyone if we just cut all ties. Not feeling great about any of it but we don't know what else to do.
Going to have to book our engagement shoot with our photographer soon, not sure where to have it tho or what to do with it. We want it winter themed and to be able to use the photos for our std's and we want our daughter involved but apart from that have no idea.

Aww your lucky to have a man who knows when he's wrong, we're both stubborn and more often than not we will give up arguing before we will admit who's wrong lol, luckily we don't argue much because we have pretty much the same views on most things, we probably won't argue over this either, I'll just tell him I'm not selling my car so that he can buy his 6th car in two years and he will sulk for a few days then all will be ok again

I have a very bland view on cars.. if it goes what's the point in changing it..

no this was a proper one. one day he told me that I was ok to give up work if I needed to as been really struggling then the next day I get home from work and he's expecting me to do dinner and washing etc when he's been off all day and just sat there watching TV. I was just so confused what he wanted from me and if I was actually getting his support.

I've never felt so stress-free regarding the wedding. My deciding to go small we've eliminated decisions such as maid of honour, bridesmaids, grooms party!

Yes Emily, we're having one hell of a party at a local social club, it holds 300 people and it's only costing £200, and we get £100 back if the hall is tidy afterwards.

I'm excited tonight as have finally managed to speak to our Vicar and book our village church. Feels real now and can look properly now at getting our venue sorted out. Head is buzzing.

Mrs D2B - really feel for you and your problems with MIL. Sometimes the only option is to walk away, which is sad but probably necessary for your sanity. H2B and I had problems with my family and we distanced ourselves for a while which seemed to calm things down, so you never know. Hope things work out for you.
