Was planning on buying plain white cakes from M+S or somewhere and decorating myself, but all of them I've found so far have marzipan with the icing, even just the sponge ones. Chris is very allergic to nuts, and don't want an impromptu hospital visit. Does anyone know of anywhere that does white iced sponge cakes without marzipan? Pretty random question, I know!

I dont know of anywhere because all the cakes have icing on them which has marzipan as a foundation. You could go to an independent bakers but I think it would be alot more than an M&S cake but may be worth enquiring about. You could either: a. buy the M&S cake to cut and for photos etc but get a small nut free version made for Chris to have on the day b. go the cup cake route so everyone is nut free!

If you're really set on getting a nut free cake, you're probably best going to a bakery and asking about it, although they will be more expesnive.
