I was wondering if someone could help me out, is there an average size table used at weddings? Do tables normally seat 8, 10, ...? I'm currently looking at package weddings that range from 40 - 75 day guests. I would like to start buying things for centerpieces but I'm not sure how many tables to plan for. Planning for 6 on the head table.

    thanks for your help x

We had 46 for a sit down meal and average per table was 8 which seemed ok roomwise - we had 8 on our top table though - I still had one centrepiece left over but used it on our sweetie table so you could always use them within the room if you have too many? xx

the large round tables can be either 8 or 10. I had 4 tables of 8 and a table of 10 for my 50 guests and we had 8 on the top table

They average between 8-10 on most tables. and around 8 for top table.

We have 54 for the day.... We've got a top table of 7.... three 9's and two 10's.

I would speak to the venue and see what they suggest.... we got a choice of table sizes to pick from as some are smaller and sit 6 and then got some bigger ones that sit 12 so i would ask xxx

Our venues tables are 8-10, but I would never put 10 grown adults on one because they'd nearly be eating off eachothers plates ! Our tables will vary between 7-9 people, luckily the tables of 9 have kids on them so not so much of a squeeze.. Our top table will have 10 on it.. xxx

Speakt o ur venue before you plan anything as your final numbers may make a difference as to what table you can have so it may be a mixture (that what happened when i worked at hotel) some would sit 8,10 or 12 depening on numbers and the lay out they wanted to what we used xxx

My headtable sits six whereas the banqueting tables (round) seat eight. It's worth asking the venue how many each table sits because they can be different (6-10 I've seen). I'm sure there's flexibility in how many each table sits, you may only want six on one but eight on another.

I would ask the venue hun, as it can vary really between places what size tables they use, normally as the others say it is 8-10 but I would double check with them just to be sure xxx

I'm not quite ready to contact venues, because knowing me I'll find some crazy excuse to book a date and h2b will be nine to pleased. I'm planning the centerpieces to keep me occupied at the mo :)

Ours are anything from 6 to 10 as they have 2 different sizes of tables so it's worth just ringing and asking to be honest. X

You're best off asking your venue as they can tell you how many can be comfortably seated at each table.

Our venue have 2 different sizes, one which seats78 comfortably and another seating 10 comfortably, so we're having a mixtur7of the two with tables seating, 8, 9 and 10 with a squeeze of 11 on the top table but one is a 3 year old so should be okay. So for 108 people we are having a total of 12 tables xx
