Hi I just need to let this all out as it is driving me mad...
We are getting married august 2016 church and reception booked but not paid for yet. Church to be paid 2016 and reception is at a family friends marquee so he said we'd sort a price nearer the time...anyway my h2b just won't stop spending money on sh1t! We have a 9 month old son too and all h2b keeps saying is 'it's for James'. Remote control boat, petrol boat, remote control helicopter (3 of) guns everything is adding up. I know our wedding isn't until 2016 but we still need to save. Am I being too harsh telling him to stop spending? I've bought my dress and shoes do far but we've still got a lot to pay for

    Sorry for the rant x

He does need to be careful, and you're absolutely right to say slow down. If you work out a budget maybe you can allow some room for extra luxuries and still save enough. It's sweet that he wants to buy lots of gifts for your son, but he's nine months old, he won't know that he's getting lots of new things. Plus surely a nine month old isn't old enough for remote control things. Sounds like an excuse to buy new toys. Men never grow out of remote control toys :)

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Children don't need lots & lots of expensive things, they are imaginative and creative. I think people can also make a rod for their own backs when they start spending a fortune on children, You're right to be annoyed about this.

Sounds like a waste of money and the excuse that its for your son is rubbish, 9month old s can't play with helicopters, my nearly 3yo could not either . will appreciate things like that more when hes 4/5yo.
Try setting up another account with my bank I have a isa and have been saving £10 a week into it, an have not been saving £30 and know the cost and what we need to save.
Then there will be less in the bank for him to dip into

Good idea. We have both looked at isa accounts and agreed that we need one. He's just had a phone call from his dad to say they're coming in to some money (family run business) so fingers crossed some will be coming our way for wedding,,,:-) x

Sounds like he's using your son as an excuse? What 9 month old is old enough for any of that? Or gunna give a monkies either?

Not being harsh at all! by the time your son is old to play with them they will be broken etc unless he's deciding to keep them until you sons at least another 3 years olders. It just proves that men never grow up and are only little boys at heart

Yep that's exactly what I keep saying JoD96. We've had a talk and we've said no more spending and we need to save so let's hope he does :)
