Hi :) I am having an outside wedding in August and unfortunately the chairs that the venue supplies is just your basic green garden chairs (yuck) I don't want to spend much on dressing the chairs, but I have to do something so was thinking of doing a bit of DIY and creating some sort of chair decoration myself, but am stuck for ideas! Something resembling a pew end, I suppose would be perfect, maybe a large bow or something? My theme is Vintage/shabby chic and I would really appreciate some ideas!! Thanks!

how about a bow on each chair,of your colour scheme, and a rose on each chair for your guests x

Bows or sashes might work well.
Would the venue let you hire some others to bring in?

I would check around with various chair cover companies to see if you can find a bargain. I wouldn't bother sticking a bow on the chair, because then it'll just be a garden chair with a bow on it. IMHO it'll draw more attention to the fact that the chairs are green garden chairs.
I was at a wedding with garden chairs once and sure I noticed that they were garden chairs, but I didn't focus on it. Bows or other decoration would make me focus on the chairs more, and surely they should just blend in and not stand out.

I saw a pic once of shabby chic type pails (buckets) hanging from garden chair ends - with feathres or maybe flowers in them - looked quite effective.
Or how about making some kind of pommander type thing - dry foam ball - and stick things in it along your theme - attach ribbon and hang it from that ribbon?

i think the above comment is valid, if you put a bow on it it won't change what it is

how about putting a garland along the back and sides along the aisle like this:

you could do it in lace, organza and ribbons and have it down the back and up the aisle seats so it also acts as a pew end

I like "officially mre mann's' idea, that won't draw attention to the chairs but will make it look 'weddingy' x
