Has anyone tried or trying a Low GI Diet? My GP has recommended it to me as it's supposed to be great for weight loss in woman with PCOS. I've been researching online today and it doesn't seem to hard to follow.

By eating meals that have a low GI you will feel less hungry. This means that rather then controlling your cravings for food by will-power alone your are controlling them by satisfying your body. On the GI diet your desire to snack or over eat should be greatly reduced, therefore by eating fewer calories you can control your weight.

On the GI diet there are no foods that you can't eat but the secret is eating more low GI foods than high GI foods. You can also create a medium GI recipe by combining foods so your not restricting yourself.

Some of the recipes I've found sound delicious!

I did this a few years ago, and it was a pretty easy diet to follow, and did appear to work pretty well. It's similar to the diet that diet controlled diabetics are on, because it regulates large swings in your blood sugar, which stops the big peaks and crashes which make us grab for bad sugary/carby foods. So it's alot about eating wholemeal bread and rice that release their energy slowly, and things like that.

It was so popular a while back that Tesco's actually labelled a lot of their food with the GI traffic light system.
