6 months left and I really liked my dress at first but I tried it on again the other day and have really gone off it. It's a very pretty dress but I don't like the shape or fit.
I've gone for Faye by Beverly Lister. I love everything about the dress - the top, the fabric, the ribbon sash - but would prefer something that's tighter around the hips.
I made a lot of rash decisions when starting to plan and have changed my mind on lots of things. I don't see myself changing my mind so consider that I have three options:
1 - lump it - wear the dress and I won't really care too much on the day as everything else will be happening - and does it matter what you wear as it's everything that happens there on that's important. 2 - get a new dress and sell the other one. I want to be happy and I'll look back in photos and cringe (however, with changing fashions I may look back and cringe anyway). 3 - see if a dress maker could adapt the dress.
I think option 3 is my favourite as I get to keep a dress I half like and don't have to dress hunt again.
Has anyone else gone off their dress? Does anyone know how much would it cost for a dress maker to alter the dress?
Thanks ladies x

Hi I have a similar dilemma but with 2 weeks to go I probably haven't got your choices. I've lost weight since choosing the dress and am not convinced I'd buy that dress now. It's with the dress maker at the moment and I'm seeing it on Friday so fingers crossed I fall in love with it again. So I'd say take it to a good dressmaker and explain what it is about it that you don't like. Good luck xx

I think option 3 is your best bet as well hun, have a real think about what it is you don't like and how you would change it.
It's a stunning dress btw :) I am sure you will look gorgeous on the day BUT you need to be comfortable and feel gorgeous and 100% happy with your choice as well

I agree. Have a look round for what you like in similar styles your dress, then take it to a dressmaker and see if she can alter it to what you have in mind.

Option 3 would be your best bet. It saves you from going shopping again and from the hassle of having to sell your dress.

Having looked at pics of your dress I reckon most seamstresses could make that tighter on the hips so more like a fishtail. And with a fishtail hoop underneath would totally change the look of it

Yeah, I agree, think option 3 is your best idea. I agree with Sonya, would think a dressmaker would be able to make in more of a fishtail/mermaid so it's more fitted over your hips. Whereabouts are you based? Xx

I would have a look for another, and perhaps sell the old one

Have you seen her dress called gypsy? its similar to yours but fitted, maybe a seamstress would be able to alter it I went through a phase of hating my dress while it was in the shop and i couldnt see it, now i have it home and i've twirled about in it i love it again. Although i do still get serious dress envy when i look at some pics on here. P.s .. i love your dress how it is xx

I think if you still like it you should be able to have it altered to be a bit more fitted x

It is gorgeous dress as it is! I don't know if it would look as stunning if you had it altered as it would change all of the train detail on it xxx
